Arthur T. Brooks (1917 – 2019)
HUDSON—Arthur Tepper Brooks passed away September 7, 2019, one month short of his 102nd birthday.
He is survived by: his adored wife of 73 years, Judith; his daughters, Lori and Louise; his son-in-law, Bob Salzman and his granddaughters, Talia and Aramie Brooks-Salzman.
He will be buried next to his oldest daughter, Teppy who died in 1980.
Born in Elmira, October 29, 1917, he moved to Hudson in 1948. He was the president of Lorbrook Corporation, 730 State Street, Hudson.
He graduated in 1939 from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in economics. After college he worked in his father’s department store, Tepper’s in Asbury Park, New Jersey until he enlisted in the Army in 1941.
While stationed in Wales, with troops preparing for the D-Day invasion, he recalled German planes flying overhead. Mr. Brooks landed on the beach of Normandy, France on D-Day plus 5. He was a captain of 111th Ordnance Division, U.S. Army. He was in Paris two days after it was liberated.
After returning home in 1945, he met Judith Lorch in January 1946. They fell in love and they were married that July. This year, they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary.
In 1948 he moved with Judy to Hudson to join his father-in-law, Adolf Lorch and together operated Lorbrook Corp., formerly Textile By-Products, later becoming its president.
Mr. Brooks was an active member of Anshe Emeth Synagogue for many years and for 24 years he served on the Board of Directors of Columbia Memorial Hospital. He and his wife pursued a lifelong passion for world travel.
They were former residents of Jupiter, Florida, where they lived for 35 years.
Mr. Brooks was a generous supporter of charities including the Southern Poverty Law Center and Planned Parenthood. Contributions in his memory may be made to those organizations.
He was a lifelong, proud Democrat whose core values were defined by Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms: freedom of speech; freedom of worship; freedom from want and freedom from fear.

Joyce W. Keil (1928 – 2019)
GHENT—Joyce Wildermuth Keil, 90, passed away peacefully September 6, 2019 at Whittier Nursing Home after a short battle with cancer.
She was born October 31, 1928 in Philmont to Stanley and Alta (Traver) Wildermuth. Most notably, she was the proprietor and soup maker of the Mouse House in Hudson, which was known for its gourmet cheese and homemade soups. She will be remembered for her laughter and smile.
Mrs. Keil is survived by: her two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Kim, and Wayne and Carol; her six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Chester G. Keil; grandson, Ethan Keil; her sister, Irene Coons, and brothers, Stanley “Bud” and Harold Wildermuth.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, September 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 at Bates and Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. A memorial service will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Frank A. Desposito, Sr. (1971 – 2019)
HUDSON—Frank A. Desposito, Sr., 47, of Greenport died Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born in Cobleskill, September 12, 1971, he was the son of Melody (King) Desposito of Stuyvesant Falls and the late Harry Desposito.
He was the president and owner/operator of Desposito Utilities, a directional drilling company in Hudson. In addition to his mother, he is survived by: one son, Frank A. Desposito, Jr., of Stuyvesant; one daughter, Cynthia M. Desposito and (Mike Kipp) of Stuyvesant; his sister, Laurie and (John) McBride of Cortlandt Manor and his granddaughter, Chloe A. Kipp.
Calling hours will be Friday, September 13, 2019, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home, 1 p.m. with Pastor Jonathan Hodges officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls.
