Frank J. Bogarski, Jr.
GHENT—Frank John Bogarski, Jr., 65, of Ghent passed away peacefully at home May 6, 2017.
Born in Kinderhook, he was the son of the late Frank J. Bogarski Senior and Kathyrn C. (Lee).
He is survived by: his beloved wife of 44 years, Aldea C. (Ouellette); a son, Frank J Bogarski, III; a daughter, Laura Rowan and her husband Chris; grandchildren, Fiona and Callan; his siblings, Karen Bogarski, Regina Blair, Chris Schermerhorn (Dale), Suzie Kmiotek (Pete) and David Blair; and several additional family members and friends.
He was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College, retired carpenter, and a bus driver for the Chatham School District. Mr. Bogarski, also known as “Big Frank” was an avid outdoorsman, lifelong member of Hill Top Lodge, Yankees/NY Giants fan, and family man.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Chatham Rescue Squad. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 10, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. A graveside service will be held May 13, 11:30 a.m. at St John’s Cemetery, Valatie.
Sylvia F. Berry (1938 – 2017)
ALBANY—Sylvia F. Berry, 78, of Schodack Landing died Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Born October 8, 1938 in Stuyvesant, she was the daughter of the late William George and Louise May (Kline) Henderson. Mrs. Berry was employed by Yonder Farms in Valatie and was a member of the Schodack Landing Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Clearview Missionary and Alliance Church in Schodack.
She is survived by: six children, Diane Patton of Murfreesboro, TN, Linda Schafer of New Mexico, Jeanette Sutliff of Nassau, John Coderre of Germantown, Richard Berry of Ghent and Kenneth Berry of Pittsfield, MA; 12 grandchildren, Alexis, Lauren, Normylania, Robert, Brandon, Clayton, Tom, John, Angela, Will, Tom, Sylvia and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Berry and a daughter, Joanna Coderre.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11, noon at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, with the Reverend Nick Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Kinderhook Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Schodack Landing Fire Company or the Clearview Missionary and Alliance Church.
Karen A. Meyers (1971 – 2017)
ALBANY—Karen A. (Abaffy) Meyers, 45, of Kinderhook died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born August 5, 1971 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Steve and Marie (Musto) Abaffy of Valatie.
Mrs. Meyers worked for Fresenius Medical Care in Latham as a medical biller.
Besides her parents, she is survived by: her husband, Jeffrey Meyers; a son, Marc Pebler of Kinderhook, and a sister, Susan Shah of Guilderland.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Valatie or Chatham rescue squads or to phassociation.org.
Kenneth J. Saltis (1930 – 2017)
POUGHKEEPSIE—Kenneth J. Saltis, 87, of Red Hook passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born March 5, 1930, in Lorain, OH, he was the son of the late Charles and Louise (Mucha) Saltis.
He attended the Polish Nativity Primary School in Lorain, OH, and graduated, with honors, from Lorain High School.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.
Mr. Saltis married Dolores Berens in 1954 in Lorain, OH, and she survives at home in Red Hook.
For many years, he worked as an engineer with IBM at numerous location around the county. He retired in 1988 from the Poughkeepsie plant.
Mr. Saltis was a longtime communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook. Previously he was active in his local little league and Elks club, however his lifelong passion was for the Ohio State “Buckeye” football team.
In addition to his loving wife of more than 62 years, Mr. Saltis is survived by: his children, Larry Saltis of Germantown, Gary (Joan) Saltis of Keene, NH, and Sharon (Tom) Lockwood of Jericho, VT; his grandchildren, Nick, Chris, Michelle, Brad, Stephen, Nicole, Kevin, Lauren and William; his great-grandchildren, Hailey and Sylvie; along with extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by: his son, Gerold K. Saltis April 4, 1996; his sister, Sylvia Paxton, and a brother, Robert Saltis.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook, Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 12, 2017, 11 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook. Father Patrick Buckley will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.

Nicholas R. Myrdycz, Sr. (1952 – 2017)
HUDSON—Nicholas R. Myrdycz, Sr., passed away to be with his wife Cindy at his home, May 1.
He was born April 12, 1952 to the late Antonina and Mykola Myrdycz.
He was predeceased by his soulmate, wife and best friend of 37 years, Cynthia A. Myrdycz (Shook) and Sarge.
Mr. Myrdycz is survived by: his brother, Bill Myrdycz; two sons, Nicholas, Jr. (Nadine), Michael (Melissa), and his four-legged son, Chance; his grandchildren, Shaunie, Courtland, Matthew, Conner and newest lights of his life Mykala and August.
Prior to retirement he worked for New York State Department of Corrections and Atlantic Cement in Ravena. He enjoyed his retirement with the help of his friends and family. He was active in the Stottville Fire Company after a break in service with the Rogers Hose Company in Hudson. He will forever be missed.

Born March 1, 1940 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Floyd and Beatrice (Tyler) Flouton.
Mrs. Bermel was predeceased by her husband, Martin. She is survived by: her daughters, Betty Quinones, Mary Bermel, Ella Cordero, Delores Bermel and Shirley Aragon.

Doris Dingman (1939 – 2017)
AUSTERLITZ—Doris Dingman, 78, of Philmont died Saturday May 6 in Austerlitz with her loving family by her side.
Born March 3, 1939 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Earl and Beulah Dingman, Sr.
Ms. Dingman was a nurse’s aide at Pine Haven and Eden Park nursing facilities for many years until her retirement. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She also loved all animals, especially her dogs, and was an avid reader and passionate gardener.
Left to cherish her memory are: her children, Todd (Anne) Hoyt, Donald Hoyt, Jr., and Deborah Dallas (Kippy Weigelt); brothers, Earl Dingman, Jr., and Donald Dingman; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Marjorie E. Melino (1924 – 2017)
HUDSON—Marjorie E. Melino, 93, of Columbiaville died Monday, May 9, at her daughter’s residence, with her loving family by her side.
Born February 5, 1924 in Hudson, she was the daughter of James F. and Beulah (Metz) Patrick.
Mrs. Melino along with her husband, Joseph worked side by side for many years at Joe’s Restaurant in Greenport which they co-owned and operated. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will truly be missed.

GHENT—Mary A. June, 93, passed away May 3, 2017 at Whittier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 28, 1924 to the late Burton S. and Myrtle (Taylor) June.
Ms. June was an inspector at the Match Factory where she worked for many years. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, cards and bingo.
She is survived by: her two sons, David and Richard; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her two brothers, Charles and Franklin.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her siblings, Lillian, Florence, Esther and Lionel.
Visitation was Sunday, May 7 at the Bates and Anderson – Redmond and Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
