Arlene Alberg (1947 – 2018)

ALBANY—Arlene (Pullman) Alberg, 71, of Copake passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, with her family at her side at Albany Medical Center.

She was born February 3, 1947 in Buffalo, the daughter of Frederick and the late Norma (Kobes) Pullman.

On August 5, 1972 in Beacon, she married Michael Neil Alberg. He survives her at home.

She is also survived and loved by: her children Brian (Carey) Alberg of Valatie, Kelly Vanderhoof of Oscoda, MI; grandchildren, Brendan, Megan and Grace Alberg and Harry Vanderhoof, III, (Jessica), Mark Paul and Clara Jean Vanderhoof; one great-grandson, Bradley Roy Vanderhoof; her father, Frederick of Kingston; her sister, Priscilla Peterossi of Fishkill; brother, David Pullman of Vermont; several nieces and nephews.

The family moved from Poughkeepsie 40 years ago to raise their children in the country. She loved the tranquility of life on their hill. She retired from the Taconic Hills Central School District in 2010.

Her passion was knitting and she was truly a “master” creating works of art for her family and friends. She adored animals and family dogs were treasured family members. She was also talented in the kitchen. Her bread and butter pickles and pumpkin bread will be missed by those lucky enough to have enjoyed them. She and Neil loved going to local restaurants and were longtime fixtures at the Swiss Hutte.

At her request there will be no memorial service at this time but the family hopes to celebrate her life at a later date.

J. Scott Puckett (1958 – 2018)

HUDSON—James Scott Puckett, 59, of Cairo passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Scott, as he was known, was born October 29, 1958 in Hudson. He was predeceased by his parents, George R. Puckett and Evelyn R. Kirschman Puckett.

He was employed for 35 years at Columbia-Greene Community College in Greenport until his retirement in July 2017.

He had a kind, generous heart and touched so many lives along his journey. He will always be remembered for his humor, passion for motorcycling, expertise in pool playing and his dedication to his mother and his beloved dog, Max.

He is missed dearly by his friends and family.

Mr. Puckett is survived by: his siblings, Michael (Joanne) Puckett of Hanover, NH, Bruce Puckett of Mexia, TX, Jon Puckett of Leeds, Russell (Susan) Puckett of North Claverack, Stephen Puckett of Cairo, Anne Camadine of Cairo, Mary Rain of Ogdensburg and Elizabeth Puckett of Hudson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and his dear friend, Geralynn Demarest.

The family invites everyone that knew him to join them for a Celebration of Life at the Central Station Firehouse, 77 North Seventh Street, Hudson, Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m. The burial will be at Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson at the discretion of the family.

Memorial donations in Mr. Puckett’s name may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the M. Grimaldi Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.

Doris I. Unger (1934 – 2018)

KINDERHOOK—Doris I. Unger, 83, passed away March 16, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born December 26, 1934, daughter of the late John and Florence Masch in Queens.

Mrs. Unger grew up living in Long Island. She later relocated to Schoharie County.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy was caring for her family and home. She was an ardent animal-lover her entire life, rescuing and caring for countless animals. Mrs. Unger was kind-hearted and demonstrated endless compassion throughout her life.

She was a member of the Elks Club in Kinderhook. She also enjoyed traveling with her companion, Norman and cherished the company of her many friends. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Unger was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Michael B. Unger; her son, Michael Unger, Jr., and her beloved companion, Norman Nilsen.

She leaves behind: her beloved children, Alison Unger Clifford (Paul), Marc A. Unger (Kimberly) and Adam B. Unger (Jennifer McNamara); her grandchildren, Bryan A. Clifford, Leah Clifford, Erik Clifford, Alexander Unger, Morgan Unger, Charles Unger, Ryan Unger, Lauren Unger, Eric Unger; her brother, Wesley Masch (Claire); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. March 21.

James A. Moon (1946 – 2018)

EAST CHATHAM—James A. Moon of East Chatham passed away March 16, 2018 at his home.

He was born June 20, 1946 in Pittsfield, MA, the son of the late James G. and Carolyn Champney Moon.

He served two-and-a-half years active duty in Vietnam in the Sea Bees as builder third class. When he returned to the states in 1968, he married Judith (Weller) and entered the New York State Police Academy. He served 23 years in Troop K-D and retired as sergeant in 1991.

Mr. Moon and his wife started a reloading and firearms business and in later years, a custom woodworking business.

Mr. Moon is survived by: his wife, Judy; sons, Brian (Karen) of Hyde Park and Evan (Kim) of Delmar; his four grandchildren; sister, Sharon of East Chatham; brothers, Bradley (Anita) of Homosassa, Florida, and Terry (Mary) of East Chatham; many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, Wednesday, March 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, March 22 at 11 a.m.
