Mr. Abitabile’s grandson and namesake, Antonio Abitabile, wrote of his grandfather: “To think of how little he has come from and the sacrifice and determination that he made is truly astonishing. He made it his life’s work to make sure others will not have to go without, even if it meant that he did… He taught me about virtue and how the greatest reward comes to those who work the hardest for it… His patience and understanding had no limit. My…father followed in his footsteps and I hope that someday I can carry the pride and traditions that have made this family different from others, and that my son will follow in mine.”

Marcia L. Mulvaney (1960 – 2016)
RED HOOK—Marcia Lynn Mulvaney “left us” April 25, 2016. She was 56 years old.
Ms. Mulvaney was a mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a caregiver and mother to her entire extended family.
She was born in Minnesota to Robert and Margaret Mulvaney. She moved to New York at an early age and spent most of her life in the Red Hook and Hudson areas.
She leaves behind: her daughter, Sarah Richards of Hudson; her son, Matthew (Matt) Mulvaney of Germantown; her brother, Douglas Mulvaney of Elkhart, IN; her granddaughter, Brianna (Bree) Mulvaney of Hudson and her niece, Anne Mulvaney Rinckel of Pensacola, FL.
Her parents, Margaret Mulvaney Pulver and Robert Mulvaney and stepfather, Ralph Pulver preceded her in death.
Ms. Mulvaney was a lover of animals. Perhaps the most loved was Colonel, the horse she owned when she was in junior high and high school. Her father and brother were enablers, building and cleaning out a first class barn in the backyard of their home in a residential neighborhood in Red Hook. Her love of animals continued for the rest of her life and included a number of cats and her beloved Rottweiler, J.D.
She was a dedicated mother to Sarah and Matt. She was a loving grandmother to Bree, who was her life. She was a wonderful sister to a brother who was the world’s worst letter writer and she tolerated his lack of letters. She was his first friend, confidant and co-conspirator. She was a doting aunt who continually kept up to date on her niece, Anne, her education, jobs, and her wedding plans and marriage last year to Steve Rinckel. Even though her health prevented her from being as involved in Anne’s life as she wanted, she cared deeply for her and her endeavors.
