Kathleen E. Joyce (1945 – 2014)
KINDERHOOK—Kathleen E. Joyce, 69, of Kinderhook passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her home.
She was born January 1, 1945 in Brooklyn, to William and Katherine (Kuntze) Nedwell.
Mrs. Joyce was a registered nurse, who graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital, Brooklyn, in 1965.
She is survived by: her loving husband of 48 years, Daniel J. Joyce; her precious son, Eric Daniel Joyce; her sister, Virginia Hatfield (Richard) of Chapin, SC; sister-in-law, Sarah Joyce; three nieces and one nephew of Cookeville, TN, and one godchild, Melissa Tart.
At Mrs. Joyce’s request there will be no viewing and arrangements are private with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Joan Chlebo (1941 – 2014)
GERMANTOWN—Joan Chlebo passed away peacefully at her home in Germantown, August 8, 2014 after her battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born July 31, 1941, she was 73 years old.
She was one of nine children born to Ludwig (Louis) and Elizabeth Sorensen (O’Connor) of Brooklyn. Always a native New Yorker, she resided in the Germantown and Clermont area for more than 55 years.
Mrs. Chlebo was a loving, devoted wife and mother who was always put the needs of her children and grandchildren above her own. She was an advocate and supporter of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. She also supported the community at the Roe Jan Boat Club and the American Legion Post 346.
She is survived by: her longtime companion, Ed Fischer of Germantown; her son, Paul Chlebo, Jr., of Colonial Beach, VA; her daughter, Pamela Hoilund (Chlebo) of Germantown; her brother, George Sorensen of Jacksonville Beach, FL; her sister, Alice Lawrence (Sorensen) of South Toms River, NJ; her brother, Edward Sorensen of Staten Island; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, the late Paul Chlebo of Germantown; her sisters, Margaret and Gloria; and her brothers, Louis, Robert and Vincent.
Mrs. Chlebo epitomized the saying, “Live well, love much and laugh often.”
Viewing and memorial services will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown. Interment will take place at the Reformed Church Cemetery in Germantown.

Vincent Liptak (1944 – 2014)
VALATIE—Vincent Liptak, 70, of Valatie died August 10, 2014.
He was born in Albany, April 19, 1944
Visitation is Thursday, August 14, 2014, 4 to 7 p.m. at the William J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc., 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer.
A funeral Mass takes place Friday, August 15, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at St. Lucy/Bernadette, Altamont. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer.
Constance M. MacGiffert (1926 – 2014)
GHENT—Constance “Connie” MacGiffert of Hudson passed away at the Whittier Rehabilitation and Skill Nursing Center with several members of her family by her side, August 8, 2014 at the age of 88.
She was born May 3, 1926 in Clermont, the only daughter born to Benjamin and Mary Anna (Paulaski) Grabowski. She attended Hudson High School, worked on her parent’s fruit farm and subsequently opened up Patio Beauty Salon. She worked as a hairdresser, servicing her many devoted customers until she was nearly 80 years old.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for Greenport Fire Department, Becraft Pumper Company #2 in Greenport and a member of the Ladies Sodality of the former Sacred Heart Church in Hudson.
She was a kind and gentle lady, giving to her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Wilfred D. MacGiffert and was predeceased by her first husband, Angelo Barca, February 20, 1970.
Mrs. MacGiffert is also survived by: her children, Joseph Barca of Canterbury, CT, Mary Ann Bopp and her husband Christopher Bopp of Beacon, John Barca and his wife Cynthia Barca of Dublin, Ohio; step-sons, Robert MacGiffert and his wife Beth MacGiffert of Hudson and Paul MacGiffert and his wife Margaret of Rexford; five grandchildren, Erin Wortman and her husband, Eric, Benjamin Barca and his wife, Sarah, Robbie MacGiffert and his wife Tracy, Shannon MacGiffert and Anne MacGiffert Durante and her husband Anthony; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Raymond and Carl Grabowski and Leo Biedrzycki.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 12, 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson.
Arrangements were with the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.
