Timothy Scott Coster (1963 – 2014)
ALBANY—Timothy Scott Coster, 50, of Niverville, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born June 7, 1963 in Frankfurt, Germany, he was the son of the late Walter and Doris (Moon) Coster.
Mr. Coster served in the U.S. Army and worked as a residence counselor for Coarc. He loved lifting weights and fitness training, the New York Mets and golfing. He lived his life for his son, Tyler.
Mr. Coster is survived by: his beloved son, Tyler J. Coster of Niverville; Tyler’s mother, Joy Ogden; his sister, Deborah C. Marozzi of Loudonville; several nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David A. Coster, and his sister, Carol Sue Coster.
Calling hours are 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 8 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson.

Edward Winfield (1926 – 2014)
HUDSON—Edward Winfield, 87, went home to his Lord June 4, 2014 after a brief illness.
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late Marie Winfield.
Mr. Winfield served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a plant manager at the Clermont Fruit Packing Company for more than 30 years. One of his greatest achievements besides being a great husband and father was his 50+ years of service as a district master emeritus with the International Masons Order and of the Eastern Star.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife of more than 66 years, Maggie M. Winfield of Hudson; his children, John and Maggie Winfield of Hudson, Melvin Winfield of Albany, Alicia Winfield of Naugatuck, Connecticut and Sheena White of Lansingburgh; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his eldest son, Edward Lee Winfield and his brother, Herbert L. Winfield.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 11 a.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson.
A viewing will be held before the service, 10 to 11 a.m.

George Vincent Avenia (1931 – 2014)
ALBANY—George “Moose” Vincent Avenia, 82, a longtime resident of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday evening, June 4, 2014, at Saint Peter’s Hospice Inn after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Winsted, CT, October 14, 1931 to Angelo and Lillian Marchese (Marks) Avenia, he spent his childhood and adolescent years in Winsted and Canaan working alongside his parents and brother in their family business before the family relocated to Columbia County and opened Angelo’s Market, later the Hillsdale Supermarket.
Mr. Avenia attended Roeliff Jansen Central School before entering the United States Marine Corps. He served in the reserves for two years.
On June 21, 1953, Mr. Avenia married Elizabeth Mae Holmes at the Copake United Methodist Church. They enjoyed nearly 61 years of marriage. After serving an apprenticeship, Mr. Avenia opened a barbershop along Route 23 in Hillsdale, which he and his wife eventually expanded into B&G Liquor Store. He continued barbering for more than 60 years; he so enjoyed his craft that he continued to provide haircuts throughout his illness.
Mr. Avenia was a member of the First Methodist Church in Hillsdale, a life member of the Hillsdale Fire Department, the OxBow Hunting Club and the Cadby-Shutts VFW.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Avenia often recounted stories of his latest catch and remained an expert at spotting a deer or a turkey in an open field. Mr. Avenia had a keen sense of humor and always had a new joke. A natural gambler, Mr. Avenia feverishly followed dog and horse racing all while searching for the best scratch off tickets.
He is survived by: his wife, Betty of Hillsdale; his three children: Diane Meredith of Walton, Michael and Tami Avenia of Hillsdale and Anthony (Tony) and Stacey Zander of Valatie; six grandchildren, William and Patrick Meredith of Walton, Lauren (Josh) Miller of Copake, Morgan (Binny) Singh of Copake and Megan and Nicholas Avenia of Chatham; three great-granddaughters, Adelyn, Braelyn and Aria; his brother, John (Ruth) Avenia of Hillsdale; his aunt, Rose Grant of Canaan, CT; his brother-in-law, Robert Holmes of Endicott; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his grandson, John Meredith; and several aunts and uncles.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours at Peck and Peck Funeral Home on Sunday, June 8 from noon to 3 p.m.; the funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend a reception celebrating Mr. Avenia’s life at the Copake Memorial Park, 305 Mountain View Road from 4 to 6 p.m. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Stephen “Ed” Mylock (1939 – 2014)
SHARON, CT—Stephen “Ed” Mylock, 75, passed away suddenly at home Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
He was born in Sharon, CT, March 26, 1939 the son of Stephen Mylock and Bertha (McGhee) Mylock.
Mr. Mylock honorably served his country in the United States Army.
He worked at K & E Scribe Corporation in Millerton for 33 years. His second career began as a plumber for Taylor Oil & Propane in Dover Plains, where he was still employed after 20+ years.
On June 15, 1962 in Sharon, CT, he married Judith (Meuten) Mylock. She predeceased him February 21, 2010.
Survivors include: a daughter, Lisa Miller and her husband David C. Miller of Sharon, CT; a son, Eddie Don Mylock of Sharon, CT; a grandson, David P. Miller of Sharon, CT; a brother-in-law, Donald Meuten of North Carolina; three sisters, Shirley Stang of Ancram, Cindy Thomas of Wassaic and Terri Proper of Copake; a brother, James Mylock of Dover Plains; several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a sister, Pauline Rothvoss.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
