Jacob S. Miller, Sr. (1927 – 2014)

STUART, FL—Jacob S. Miller, Sr., 86, of Ancramdale passed away Friday April 4, 2014 at Salerno Bay Manor.

He was born May 22, 1927 in Ancramdale, the son of the late Jacob and Jenny (Hartman) Miller.

On June 9, 1951, he married Helen (Dietter) Miller. She predeceased him December 6, 2000.

Mr. Miller moved to Stuart, FL, in 2010.

He is survived by: two daughters, Marilyn (Randy) Smith of Auburn, IN, and Debra (Matthias) Blaetterlein of Stuart, FL; two sons, Jacob S. Miller, Jr., of Stuart, FL and David Miller of Albany; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is his sister, Janet Westfall of Chatham.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014, 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains. Deacon Jackie Jefferson will officiate.

Harold W. Haner (1917 – 2014)

LIVINGSTON—Harold W. Haner, 97, of Claverack, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home.

Born in Chatham February 1, 1917, he was the son of the late George and Emma (Proctor) Haner.

Mr. Haner was employed as a laborer with the Columbia County Highway Department. He was a life member of the Churchtown Fire Company and a founding member of the Greenport Rescue Squad.

Mr. Haner was the beloved father of Harold C. (Rose) Haner of Claverack, Judy Talarico of Livingston and Linda (Robert) Holmes of Claverack; devoted brother of Agnes Ewasick and Margaret Stiffler, both of Pittsfield, MA, Blanche Clauson of Florida, and Iris Sachs of Copake Falls.  He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Isabelle (Sickler) Haner.

Charles D. Mesick (1915 – 2014)

SPENCERTOWN— A memorial service for Charles D. Mesick, 98, of Chatham, who died March 11, 2014 in Lakewood, Colorado, will be held Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Spencertown, with the Reverend Drew Paton officiating.

Private inurnment with military honors will be in the Kinderhook Cemetery.

Mr. Mesick graduated from Chatham High School in 1934, attended Alfred University in New York, and Tufts Dental School in Boston. He began his dental practice in Great Barrington, Massachusetts in 1940 and served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps overseas during World War II from 1943 to 1946. When he returned from the war, he started his dental practice in Chatham in 1946 and retired in 1987.
