Joan Giallorenzi (1934 – 2014)

GHENT—Joan Giallorenzi passed away April 4, 2014.

She was born November 7, 1934 in Yonkers, the daughter of the late Angelo and Laura Renzi Rubino.

 

She grew up in Yonkers and moved to Columbia County later in her life. Ms. Giallorenzi knitted the most beautiful afghans and sweaters. She was an excellent cook and baker. She has left behind decades of old Italian recipes for the family to enjoy.

Ms. Giallorenzi is survived by: her son, Steven (Sharon) Giallorenzi of Mount Kisco; her daughters, Lorraine (Dan) Silvano of Charlotte, NC, and Gina (Andre) Marcou of Claverack; her grandchildren, John and Justin Giallorenzi, Michelle and Joe Silvano and Dina DiMedio; her great-granddaughter, Aubree Silvano; her sister, Barbara (Arthur) Engelhardt of Yorktown Heights; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Laura and Robert Rubino and her granddaughter, Anna.

Kathleen V. “Vicki” Jordan (1946 – 2014)

RHINEBECK—Kathleen V. “Vicki” Jordan, 68, a 50-year resident of Dover Plains died Monday, May 12, 2014 at Ferncliff Nursing Home.

Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker and also a children’s daycare provider for many years.

Born April 30, 1946 in Sharon, CT, she was the daughter of the late Alanzo Hoag and Katherine (Parsons) Hoag of Millerton.

Mrs. Jordan was a graduate of Webutuck High School.

On February 5, 1966 at the Millerton Presbyterian Church, she married Dennis R. Jordan. Mr. Jordan survives at home in Dover Plains.

She was a past member of the J.H. Ketcham Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary, former band director of the J.H. Ketcham Drum and Bugle Corps for 10 years, past member of the Dover Woman’s Bowling League and Washington Lanes Saturday Night Mixed Bowling League. She enjoyed attending penny socials with her dear friend, Brenda Wilkins and attending all of her children’s football and softball games. She also enjoyed playing cards, attending the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Convention, Thursday Night Socials and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Jordan was also a member of the Millerton Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by: three sons, Jeffrey J. Jordan, Brian M. Jordan and his wife Amber and Christopher S. Jordan, all of Millerton; two sisters, Bonnie Summers of Millerton and Pamela Miles of Ancram; four grandchildren, Tyler and Breana Jordan of Wingdale and Cole and Cooper Jordan of Millerton.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton. A funeral service will take place Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Zora Cheatham will officiate. Burial will take place at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton at a later date.
