Scott D. Summers (1962 – 2014)
VALHALLA—Scott D. Summers, 51, of John Street in Millerton died Saturday April 26, 2014 at Westchester Medical Center.
He was born September 27, 1962 in Sharon, CT, a son of Craig A. and Bonnie (Hoag) Summers of Millerton.
Mr. Summers was a graduate of Webutuck High School in 1980 and was a self-employed painting contractor.
He liked all sports, particularly baseball, basketball and football. Mr. Summers enjoyed trips to Foxwoods Casino, cooking, comedy, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Survivors include: his son, Andre Summers of Millerton; parents, Craig and Bonnie Summers of Millerton; his maternal grandmother, Katharine Hoag of Millerton, with whom he resided; a sister-in-law, Liana Roberts of Copake; nieces and nephew, Courtney, Danelle and Kyle Summers.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dean A. Summers in 2009.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake.
Friends are invited and may call Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Copake Cemetery.

Cynthia Myrdycz (1958 – 2014)
HUDSON—Cynthia A. Myrdycz of Greenport passed away April 26, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 22, 1958 to Nancy (Avery) Spiewak (Peter) and the late Raymond Shook, Sr., of Hudson.
She was predeceased by her brother Raymond, Jr.
Surviving are: her sister, Desiree Konkus and two brothers, Timothy and Michael Shook; her husband, Nicholas Myrdycz, Sr., whom she married September 24, 1977; two sons, Nicholas, Jr., (Nadine) and Michael (Melissa); four grandchildren and her four-legged friend, Basil.
Mrs. Myrdycz was a kind, caring, loving friend, daughter, mother and grandmother. She worked at Coarc’s Promenade Hill Center in Hudson for the past 20 years. She loved her job and her coworkers.

Alfred D. Lasher (1924 – 2014)
HUDSON—Alfred D. Lasher, 89, of Livingston passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born June 26, 1924 in Clermont, he was the son of the late James and Anne (Van Etten) Lasher.
Mr. Lasher was a machine operator at the L & B Corporation in Stottville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a technician fifth grade with Company “1” 110th Infantry. He was a member of the American Legion 184, the Hudson VFW and the NRA.
Mr. Lasher was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Jean F. (Kilmer) Lasher; his daughter, Bette Jean “Pepe” Makas; two grandchildren, Madison and Zachary Johnson, and his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by: his devoted daughters, Linda (Raymond) Fenoff of Livingston and Patricia Johnson (Mark Dauenheimer) of Greenport; his loving grandchildren, James (Doreen) Fenoff of Chatham, Christine (Chris) DeGraff of Hudson, Steven (Mary Ann) Makas of Hudson, Renee (Christine) Makas of Schenectady and Michele (Donnie) Makas of Catskill; seven great-grandchildren, Jennifer Akin, Jessica Williams, Jacklyn Fenoff, Julie Fenoff, Erin Makas and Hunter and Ryan DeGraff; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 30 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.

Helen May Stevenson (1923 – 2014)
GREENPORT—Helen May Stevenson, 91, of Greenport passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at her residence.
Born in Hudson, February 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sophia Doty.
Mrs. Stevenson was a homemaker.
She is survived by: her devoted daughter, Bonnie Stevenson of Greenport; two brothers, Walter Doty of Berlin and Frederick Doty of Claverack; her sister, Anna Tomasitz of Greenport; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Stevenson, and her brother, Joseph “Joe” Doty.
A calling hour will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, May 2 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Leon “Gil” King Gildersleeve (1929 – 2014)
ALBANY—Leon King Gildersleeve, known by all as “Gil” passed away April 24, 2014 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center at the age of 84.
Born on December 16, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Harold Gildersleeve and Edith Light.
His strong faith in God, and his unwavering love for his family and country defined his very being.
Mr. Gildersleeve proudly served as a U.S. Marines weapons instructor from 1947 to 1954. He loved being a Marine, and at 80 years old wanted to rejoin to serve his country again. As a civilian, he moved on to carpentry for many years and eventually retired as a truck driver. He was a loving father of four sons and two daughters and a devoted husband and loving grandfather. Mr. Gildersleeve loved nature and animals as well. After retirement he discovered a passion for oil painting and enjoyed spending time with family.
Mr. Gildersleeve is survived by: his loving wife of 50 years, Trudy Gildersleeve; daughter, Wendy Lundin (Eric) of Arizona; sons, Duane Gildersleeve of NC, Shane Gildersleeve of Valatie, Brian (Barb) Gildersleeve of Schodack, Kris (Sherry) Gildersleeve of Germantown; brother, Harold Gildersleeve of Poughkeepsie; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his late brother, Marvin (Richard); his late sister, Doris and late daughter, Cindy.
A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at the Hudson Boat Club, 23 Ferry Street, Hudson, Sunday May 4 at 2pm.
There will be no calling hours as Mr. Gildersleeve chose to donate his remains in the hope that he may help others through research. Arrangements are with the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, Copake.

Rose M. Johnston (1934 – 2014)
DELMAR—Rose M. Johnston, 79, of Delmar passed away peacefully Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Born August 24, 1934 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Ada Grand and Louis Gaudio.
Ms. Johnston was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren—playing games and making them laugh. Ms. Johnston worked as a volunteer in Watervliet Catholic Elementary School while her son, Keith went to school. She later worked at the Watervliet Arsenal as a cafeteria worker.
Ms. Johnston was the beloved mother of Keith E. Johnston (Amy); grandmother of Ryan and Andrew of Delmar. Also surviving are her siblings, Daria M. Leccese (Rodger) of Greenport, John L. Grand (Sylvia) of Arizona, Ralph P. Grand (Mary) of Stottville, Mary C. Dolan (James, Sr.) of Greenport, Doreen Grand-Baretsky (Jim) of Livingston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
