Benzion Jacob Rapoport (1929 – 2014)
LENOX, MA—Benzion Jacob Rapoport, 84, a resident of Canaan for 50 years, passed away Friday, April 18.
Dr. Rapoport was born in Szczuczyn, Poland, December 11, 1929.
He survived the Warsaw Ghetto and internment camps in Germany and France before moving to the United States as a teenager after World War II. He graduated from Brooklyn College before earning a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University. Dr. Rapoport was a practicing psychotherapist for more than forty years. He also co-founded the internationally known guitar string company DR Strings.
Dr. Rapoport is survived by his wife, Gloria Rapoport, his son, Aaron Rapoport, his daughters, Lisa Rapoport and Faye Rapoport DesPres, his sons-in-law, Leslie O’Connor and Jean-Paul Des Pres, and two grandchildren, Levi and Temma Rapoport-O’Connor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to plant a tree in Israel in Dr. Rapoport’s name through the Jewish National Fund or to donate to another Jewish charity. William Ross Homestead (1951 – 2014)
W. LEBANON—William Ross Homestead of West Lebanon died suddenly, April 12, 2014.
A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Homestead was an active member of the New Lebanon Congregational Church, where he was remembered Thursday, April 17 at a memorial service as a frequent participant and a warm and generous friend.
Mr. Homestead attended the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine transportation. He was a collegiate swimmer and an avid horseback rider.
Mr. Homestead was an ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve and had a Third Mate’s Ocean’s License. He worked for Reinauer Transport and Polling Brothers as a barge mate and captain.
Mr. Homestead is survived by his four brothers and their wives: Robert and Mary Lou Homestead of Sayville, Thomas and Kathy Homestead of Tully, Peter and Martha Homestead of Hopewell Junction and Chuck and Korin Homestead of Anchorage, AK. He was adored by his 11 nieces and nephews to whom he was a loving, playful and doting uncle. In addition to his circle of close friends, he left behind Odie, his loyal dog and constant companion.
The family will gather this summer in Harwich, Cape Cod where Mr. Homestead will be interred.

Anthony Fulciniti (1921 – 2014)
HUDSON—Anthony Fulciniti, 93, of Germantown died Tuesday April 15, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born January 17, 1921 in New York City, he was the son of the late Samuel and Francine (Cundari) Fulciniti.
Mr. Fulciniti served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He was a self-employed plumber for many years and well-known in the area for his skills.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish Church of the Resurrection in Germantown.
Survivors include: his son, Anthony (Joan) Fulciniti, Jr., of NJ; two daughters, Barbara Scotto of Red Hook and Violet (Louis) Grisaffi of Highland; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Violet, who died July 6, 2004, three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 19 from the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, Germantown and at the Holy Trinity Parish Church of the Resurrection.
Interment followed in the Nativity Church Cemetery, Linlithgo.
Billie Faye Cendroski (1938 – 2014)
RHINEBECK—Billie Faye Cendroski, 76, of Elizaville died April 15 at the Baptist Home.
Surviving are: her husband, Leonard; three daughters, Carol (James) Rivenburgh of Elizaville, Mary (Barry) Schlagel of Mead, Colorado, and Patricia (Ed) Cendroski of Ghent; a son, Edward Cendroski of Elizaville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services.

E. Barbara Allen (1923 – 2014)
ALBANY—E. Barbara Allen, 90, of Ghent, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Albany Medical Center.
Born August 3, 1923 in Rapid City, South Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Ruel M. Teaney, Sr., and Elsie Mueller Teaney.
Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Philmont High School and the Hudson City Hospital School of Nursing. She was a veteran of World War II, serving as an ensign in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. She worked as a nurse at Columbia Memorial Hospital and was a social worker for Columbia County. Mrs. Allen was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution—Hendrick Hudson Chapter.
Mrs. Allen was the widow of the late Maurice Rhett Allen, who died July 14, 2013. She will be greatly missed by her son, Robert Allen of Micanopy, FL; her daughter, Kathleen Allen and her husband Gerard Leonard of Danbury, CT; her granddaughter, Hannah Leonard of New York City. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families: Thomas Teaney and his wife Debbie; Susan (Teaney) Clarke and her husband Mark; Timothy Teaney and his wife Vonda; Sarah (Teaney) Meyers and her husband Bruce; and her brother-in-law, Bernard Allen of Groton, CT, along with his son Barry Allen and his wife Laurie.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will follow at noon with the Reverend David Tipple of the Mt. Pleasant Reformed Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mellenville Union Cemetery, after which friends are invited to Kozel’s restaurant for lunch. LCpL Cory C. Coumbes (1989 – 2014)
CALIFORNIA—LCpL Cory C. Coumbes, 24, United States Marine Corps, died suddenly, Saturday April 12, 2014 in California.
He was born June 7, 1989, the son of Janet Marie (Sutton) Stallman of Craryville.
He grew up in Columbia County, attended Pine Plains Central Schools and graduated from Kingston High School.
Lance Corporal Coumbes had just returned from duty in Afghanistan. He had previously served in Cuba and Egypt and was to have been released from active duty this May after five years of service. He was a dedicated Marine who often helped others during trying times.
The lance corporal had a great love for his family, friends and fellow Marines. He enjoyed all types of sports, fishing and especially paintball.
He is survived by: his mother, Janet Marie Stallman of Craryville; his sister and brother-in-law, Sabrina Marie and Michael Conn and nephew and niece, Anthony Michael Conn and McKenzie Conn, all of Craryville. He also leaves his infant son, Gabriel Michael Coumbes and the mother of his child, Sarita Huebsch. In addition he leaves a special aunt, Margie Rothvoss of Ancramdale along with seven other aunts, one uncle and numerous cousins.
Friends are invited and may call Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Jacqueline Jefferson officiating.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
