Ellen M. Kilian (1926 – 2014)
PHILMONT—Ellen M. Kilian, 88, formerly of Stuyvesant, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.
Born March 5, 1926 in Richmondville, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Mildred (Greeley) Bailey.
She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie. She was a member of the Stockport Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Kilian is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Donald Yakman of Stuyvesant; her son, Robert Kilian of Schuylerville; her brother, Kenneth Bailey; her sister, Joan Shaver; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Jessica, Richard, James and Thomas, and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fritz R. Kilian in 1985; her son, Leslie F. Kilian; a grandson, Christopher Jacobs, and two brothers, William and Leslie Bailey.
Services were conducted Saturday, March 29 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson. Burial will be in the Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery.

Shirley Santana Chuley (1924 – 2014)
HUDSON—Shirley Santana Chuley, 89, a lifelong resident of Valatie died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born November 30, 1924 in Valatie, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Minnie (Sheldon) Weaver.
After retiring from Sterling Drug as a quality control supervisor, Mrs. Chuley enjoyed time with family and friends, traveling, cross-wording and reading. Her sense of community was apparent through her volunteer work for the Red Cross and serving as a board member for the Valatie Free Library. She was always available to family and friends in need. Mrs. Chuley’s creative side included singing and dancing in local community musical theater groups and playing the organ for St John’s church in Valatie.
Surviving her are: her husband, Raymond Chuley; daughter, Mary Santana of Castleton; son, Timothy Santana (Linda) of Martinsburg, WV; step-son, John Chuley of Schenectady; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Tammy) Santana, Marc (Julie) Santana, Lisa (Dan) Clark, Zachary (Janine) Friedlander, Emily Friedlander, Kirsten and Erik Chuley; four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sidney Santana, Matthew Clark and Cameron Friedlander; her adoring nieces and nephew, Connie (Bill) Bailey, Patricia (Neal) Barber, and Michael (Elva) Connor, plus many devoted grand-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Andrew Santana and three siblings, Marion, Bud and Gerald.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Valatie Rescue Squad, PO Box 242, Valatie 12184.

Margaret Mary Bouchey (1929 – 2014)
GREENPORT—Margaret “Peggy” Mary Bouchey of Greenport passed away peacefully in her home March 28, 2014.
Born in Manhattan, August 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sarah (Rafferty) McQuade.
She married Jean (John) Bouchey, June 4, 1949. He predeceased her. The Boucheys moved from Long Island to Columbia County in 1976, residing in Livingston and Greenport.
One of Mrs. Bouchey’s favorite careers was as an area real estate broker. She treasured her free time in the Adirondacks with her husband and enjoyed discussing current events.
Mrs. Bouchey was an active volunteer in her community for more than 22 years, including with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program as a preparer and supervisor as well as at the Adult Learning Institute as secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Bouchey lived her life to the fullest, did it her way and cherished her family and friends dearly.
Mrs. Bouchey had two brothers, John and Peter, along with a younger sister, Sally.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving brother, Peter James McQuade of Mineola; her nieces and their families.

Margaret J. Winters (1933 – 2014)
VALATIE—Margaret J. Winters, 80, of Valatie died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Barnwell Health Facilities.
She was born May 9, 1933 in Philmont.
She was a self-employed seamstress for many years. She was predeceased by her husbands, Elmer Shook and Delbert Winters.
Mrs. Winters is survived by: a daughter, Patricia Shook of Valatie; a sister, Roseanna McClellan of Valatie and a grandson, Andre Levon Barnhill.
Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
