Constance L. Herron (1933 – 2014)
PITTSFIELD, MA—Constance L. Herron of Hillsdale passed away January 25 in Pittsfield, MA.
Born June 20, 1933 in Great Barrington, MA, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Augusta Wollny Herron.
She grew up in Hillsdale and graduated from Roeliff Jansen Schools and then the College of St. Rose.
Ms. Herron went on to become a Carmelite sister and received her second Masters Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She worked at St. Patrick’s Home in New York City, later leaving the order and going to work at the Bronx Children’s Hospital as a social worker and later as an information coordinator.
She is survived by: her brother, Leroy B. Herron, Jr.; her sister, Patricia Marangine of North Tonawanda; her nephew, Steven Beningo of Derwood, MD; her niece, Dr. Karyn Beningo of Niagara Falls and several cousins.
There will be a calling hour at 9 a.m., Friday, January 31, at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. James Church. For directions or to convey a condolence visit frenchblasl.com.
Earle Lawrence (1931 – 2014)
HUDSON—Earle Winston Lawrence of Spencertown died Thursday January 23, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospice due to complications after surgery at Albany Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 14, 1931.
He was predeceased by his mother, E. Pauline Lawrence and her husband, Benjamin Semansky.
A graduate of Averill Park High School, his life was filled with a variety of occupations and interests. Employed by Niagara Mohawk until his retirement, he also owned and operated Sno-Fun Ski and Snow Mobile Shop in West Sand Lake. He was a talented stone mason and worked throughout the area. Interested in buying and selling underdeveloped woodlands, he especially enjoyed the great outdoors. His hunting expeditions in Canada, Missouri and Montana, as well as New York State, fulfilled Mr. Lawrence’s spirit of adventure and love of nature.
He is survived by: his long-time partner, Ann Macintyre; his brother, Jackson Lawrence (Betsy) of North Carolina; the children’s mother, Eva D. Lawrence; his beloved children, Richard E. Lawrence of Peru, Terry P. Lawrence of Queensbury and Tracey (Tom) Miller of Averill Park; as well as, one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews in addition to his cherished Canadian cat, Waskasiu, who will miss him always.
If Mr. Lawrence could not live his life to the fullest, he was determined to explore new territory. Memories of him will sustain all who knew and loved him. “As always he will walk to the beat of a Different Drummer.”
Burial was private for the immediate family Friday, January 24 at Mountain View Cemetery in New Concord and arranged by the French, Gifford, Preiter, & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham.

William Wrigley, III (1978 – 2014)
LIVINGSTON—William Beckett Wrigley, III, 35, of Livingston died Friday, January 24, 2014 in Livingston.
Born August 22, 1978 in Hudson, he was the son of William J. and Deidre (March) Wrigley, Jr.
He was a 1997 graduate of Ichabod Crane High School in Valatie and a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Persian Gulf War from 1999 to 2000.
He was an 11-year veteran of the Hudson Police Department, a Golden Shellback, crossing the Equator twice; a member of the Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post # 9593 and a member of the Hudson Elks Lodge #787.
Besides his parents, he is survived by: his brother, Timothy John Wrigley of Valatie; his maternal grandmother, Adrienne Saltmarsh; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Wrigley, Sr., and his maternal grandfather, Ellsworth March.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 28 at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. Burial will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.
Calling hours will be Monday, January 27 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Raymond E Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Frances Kaminski
VALATIE—Frances M. Kaminski, 87, died Saturday January 25, 2014.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late John and Frances Bolda.
Mrs. Kaminski was a resident of Valatie from 1978 until her death. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Kaminski was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie and enjoyed volunteering with the Elves Organization, where she made crafts for their bazaars. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Kaminski in 1991.
She is survived by: her sons, Jeffrey Kaminski and his wife Irene of Downingtown, PA, and Jack Kaminski and his wife Linda of Kinderhook; her daughters, Gail Manna and her husband John of Somerset, NJ, and Mary Samulak and her husband Greg of Battle Creek, Michigan; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

John J. Scalera (1923 – 2014)
GREENPORT—John J. Scalera, 90, of Greenport, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born June 22, 1923 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Michelina (Russo) and Andrea Scalera.
Mr. Scalera worked in the construction field under Local 1000 in Poughkeepsie.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of the Federation of Polish Sportsmen, the Hudson Elks Lodge 787, the Hudson Moose Lodge, and attended St. Mary’s Church in Hudson.
Mr. Scalera is survived by: his beloved wife, Nancy (Olm) Scalera; his devoted children, Richard (Donna) Scalera, Kathryn (Leo) Weaver, Anthony Scalera, Michael (Michelle) Scalera, Marguerite (James) Folz and Patricia Scalera; his loving grandchildren, Melinda (Scalera) Peck, Melanie Scalera, Michael Todd Estes, Renee Estes, Shanna Estes, Ryan Scalera, Lauren Scalera, Erica Scalera, Nathan Scalera, Hannah Scalera, Jonathon Doty, Robert Doty and Nancy Doty; his brother, Nicholas Scalera; three sisters, Fannie Peters, Frances Kostszewski and Josephine Meltz; 19 great-grandchildren, and his long-time fishing and hunting buddy, his brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Olm.
Visiting hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 29 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson.
Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, January 30 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
