Evelyn M. Mattoon-Savage (1927 – 2013)
SCHENECTADY—Evelyn M. Mattoon-Savage, 86, of Schenectady and a long-time resident of Stuyvesant passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Ellis Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born in Hudson to Lester W. Shea, Sr., and Emma Ida Bender.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Philip Savage; second husband, Benjamen
Mattoon and step-siblings, Lester, Jr., and Lorraine.
She is survived by: her son, Gregory Savage and his wife Eleanor of Fort Pierce, FL; her daughter, Shannon Savage of Schenectady; grandson, Christopher Savage and his wife Rosa; granddaughter, Nicole Savage; her sister, Audrey Shea; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special extended family, Terri and Joe David and their children Joy and Jessica.
God’s calling for Ms. Mattoon-Savage was her love for children. In addition to her own, she and Mr. Savage raised 54 foster babies from birth until they were adopted by another loving family.
She truly enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook, but her biggest passion was her team—the New York Yankees. “God must have known to provide the YES station wherever she called home.”
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, Wednesday, December 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a service commemorating her life. Burial follows at Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to a charity of choice or to the Turn 2 Foundation, Inc., 215 Park Avenue South, Suite 1905, New York, NY, 10003. Launched by NY Yankee Derek Jeter, the Foundation’s mission is to help young people turn away from drugs and alcohol and “Turn 2” healthy lifestyles.
Kim C. Imschweiler (1955 – 2013)
ALBANY—Kim C. Imschweiler, 58, of North Chatham died Monday, December 9, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital after an 11-year struggle with cancer.
Born October 1, 1955 in Pottsville, PA, she was the daughter of Ralph H. Imschweiler of Pine Grove, PA, and the late Carol J. (Moore) Imschweiler.
Ms. Imschweiler was a mental health aide at St. John’s Vianney in Lionville, PA. She loved horses, especially her horse, Willie and was a very giving person.
Besides her father, she is survived by: her husband, Richard E. Rawlins; a son, Jeremiah Rawlins of Stuyvesant; her sister, Robin Imschweiler of Hyde Park and two grandchildren, Kaiden and Caylee Rawlins.
Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Gustave Raitz (1926 – 2013)
ANCRAM—Gustave Raitz, 87, of Ancram died Monday, December 9, 2013 at his residence.
He was born November 22, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Adolph G. and Charlotte K. (Hohn) Raitz.
Mr. Raitz was a local resident for the past 11 years, previously residing on Long Island.
He was a longtime educator and teacher graduating from Colgate University, class of 1949. He later received his master’s degree from Albany State Teacher’s College. Mr. Raitz was employed as the assistant superintendent of schools in charge of finance and transportation in East Meadow.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, was a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Colgate University Alumni Association.
Mr. Raitz was an avid sports enthusiast, participating in many, including baseball, basketball, football and boxing during high school, college and the service. He also coached basketball and was a college football and lacrosse referee for more than 49 years.
On June 23, 1951 in Middleburgh, he married Marie L. (Wilbur) Raitz who survives him at home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: his children and their spouses, Gustave W. Raitz and wife Mary of Smyrna, DE, D. Douglas Coburn and wife Barbara of Seaford, Rhys Raitz and wife Karen of East Islip and Ruth Wittlinger and husband George, Sr., of Ancram; his grandchildren, Lauren Glen and husband Kevin, Maureen Raitz and husband Ronald Fretz, Doreen Coburn Heister and husband Dave, Meghan Coburn, Kaitlyn Raitz, Andrew Raitz, Matthew Raitz and Daniel Wittlinger. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Kevin E. Glen, Ava Glen, Amelia Fretz and Tessa Fretz.
Friends are invited and may call Friday, December 13, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8073 State Route 22, Copake.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013, 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, County Route 7 in Ancram.
Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in Union Cemetery, Ancram.

Lester T. Olsson (1938 – 2013)
RHINEBECK—Lester T. Olsson, 75, of Salt Point, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Baptist Nursing Home.
Born March 1, 1938, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Louis and Elsa (Johnson) Olsson.
He served with the U.S. Army Military Police from 1961 to 1963.
For more than 40 years, Mr. Olsson was a civil engineer with the “Right of Way Mapping” for New York State Department of Transportation based in Poughkeepsie. Following his retirement, he worked as a tax preparer for HR Block for more than 10 years.
An avid golfer and boater, Mr. Olsson played golf in the DOT Golf League at McCann Golf Course for many years. He was a member of the “Flotilla 2003” Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Kingston Power Boat Club and the Poughkeepsie Elks Club.
He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be hunting or sailing as a youth, fishing or boating with family. He also enjoyed model trains, square dances, reading and gardening.
He is survived by: his partner of 27 years at home, Elizabeth Phillips; his son, Lester Olsson and his wife Emi of Germantown; a daughter, Wendy Post and her husband Louis of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Michael Borden of Maryland, Scott Borden of Wappingers Falls and Mina and Kian Olsson of Germantown.
In addition to numerous extended family, friends and colleagues, Mr. Olsson is survived by Elizabeth’s family: Craig and Linda Phillips of Germantown, their daughter, Carissa Phillips of Germantown, along with Darcy and Fran Scarlata of Loudonville and their sons, Stefen and Evan also of Loudonville.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Friday, December 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Entombment will be at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
