Arlene D. Glover (1939 – 2013)
CHATHAM—God called His servant, Arlene D. (Van Alstyne) Glover home, Saturday, November 30, 2013.
She was born December 26, 1939 in Chatham. She was raised in Chatham and attended Chatham Central School. Mrs. Glover worked in various hospitals and factories in Albany, Chatham and Hudson.
She married James Glover, Sr., they were married 55 years. Mrs. Glover was a member of the Payne AME Church and served the church in many capacities. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and shopping.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her three children, Nadine Bray of Philadelphia, PA, James Glover, Jr., of Hudson and Zachary Glover of Chatham; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings, Janice Murray (Calvin), Patricia Bates (Jerry), Louis Van Alstyne, Sr., (Joanne), Corinne Summers, Jacqueline Payne (Vernon, Sr.), King Van Alstyne of Chatham and Perry Van Alstyne, Sr. of Albany; lifelong friend, Kathy Starks of Vermont; a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Her husband, James Glover, Sr., siblings: Charles Van Alstyne, Sr., William Van Alstyne, Sr., and Mary Ellen Travis predeceased her.

Frederick R. Tator (1931 – 2013)
HUDSON—Frederick R. Tator, 82, of Claverack, formerly of Valatie died Sunday, December 1 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born July 15, 1931 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Henry and Dorothy (Williams) Tator.
Mr. Tator was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army.
He worked for Canada Dry in Hudson, Columbia Box Board in Chatham, was a truck manager for Marsh Hallman in Albany and most recently worked in sales for Capital Tractor in Troy. He was a member of both the Kinderhook and Sarasota, FL, Elks Clubs. Some of his hobbies included cars, trucks, tractors, NASCAR, motorcycle racing and buying and selling things. He loved watching his boys race motocross and stock cars.
He is survived by: two sons, Brian Tator of Ghent and Michael Tator of Chatham Center; three stepchildren, Jill, Rick and Darryl Palmer; two sisters, Pearl Ingham and Mabel Usyk, both of Chatham Center; four grandchildren, Courtney, Brock, Ryan and Josh Tator; his best friend and fiancee, Alberta Cox; seven nieces and nephews, Debbie Ostrowski, Rhonda, Lisa and Richard Usyk, Robert, David and Joe Tator.
He was predeceased by two wives, Dorethea (Palmer) Tator and Jean Ann (Kowalski) Tator; a brother, Henry Tator, Jr., and a nephew, Daniel Tator.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 4 at North Chatham Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.
Mary (Marion) C. Torrey (1918 – 2013)
HUDSON—Mary C. (Marion) Torrey of Chatham died peacefully December 2 at the age of 95 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
One of nine siblings, she was born in Brooklyn, February 1, 1918 to James and Catherine Wallace.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Torrey; all eight of her siblings; her daughter, Abbe Berkel; her grandson, Jeffrey Berkel and granddaughter, Kaitlin Torrey.
She is survived by: her sons, Martin (Chris Mesick) and Matthew (Debra Weaver); grandchildren, Brian Berkel, Jessica (Berkel) Salvatore, Barry Torrey, Adam Torrey, Samantha Torrey, and six great-grandchildren.
In 1945, Mr. and Mrs. Torrey moved to Columbia County from Brooklyn. Mrs. Torrey became a devoted communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Chatham, where she began working for Monsignor Charles McCormick in 1964, to assist on a weekend, and then remained employed there for the next 36 years, working in various capacities including secretary.
Over the course of her years living in Chatham and Ghent, Mrs. Torrey participated in numerous volunteer organizations including Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, the March of Dimes, St. James Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Rosary Society. Throughout much of the 1960s one of her great joys was the weekly bowling leagues at the Chatham Bowl.
An inspirational lady of quick wit, compassion for others, and a deep devotion to her family and church, Mrs. Torrey will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday December 5 at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home at 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 6 at 10 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, followed by a committal service at St. James Cemetery in Ghent.

Jason Van Ackooy (1979 – 2013)
ALBANY—Jason Van Ackooy, 34, of Livingston passed away November 30, 2013 at Albany Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Mr. Van Ackooy was a loving, devoted father, son, brother and friend. He worked for many years as a load setter and truck driver for William’s Lumber. He took great pride in his cooking talent and loved to barbecue. He also enjoyed the great outdoors. His passion was listening to his music.
Born May 26, 1979 in Rhinebeck, he was the son of Loni Rifenburgh of Livingston and the late Henry Van Ackooy, Jr.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Van Ackooy is survived by daughter, Ciera Noel Van Ackooy of Elizaville; son, Henry Van Ackooy of Elizaville; sister, Jessica McCann and husband Frank of Elizaville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Family and friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Home, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday December 5, 2013 at 11 a.m.
