Lorraine Zagarola (1936 – 2013)
SPENCERTOWN—Lorraine Zagarola, 77, of Spencertown, formally of New York City, died November 19, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.
Her life partner, Mary Zander, predeceased her June 27, 2013.
Ms. Zagarola is survived by: her loving brother, Larry Zagarola; her loving sister, Maureen Hoch and their spouses, Edward Hoch and Celeste Zagarola; her nieces and nephews, Matthew Hoch, Kathryn Hoch, Lauren Zagarola, Darren Zagarola, Celeste Csordas and her great-nieces and nephews.
She was born in Jersey City, NJ, June 2, 1936, the daughter of Helen and Lawrence Zagarola.
She attended Holy Rosary Academy and went on to receive her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from New York University. She lived in New York City for many years and had a long and distinguished career as head recorder then deputy registrar at New York University.
In later years, she moved full-time to Spencertown, where she was a co-founder of Golden Hill Press, a boutique publishing company publishing American nonfiction. She was an active member of the Austerlitz Historical Society and was responsible for their regularly published newsletter.
She also assisted in the fundraising activities for the Friends of Historic St. Peter’s Church and in preserving the Spencertown Academy.
Ms. Zagarola had a love for history, theater, reading and books, especially mysteries in any genre.
She was a loyal friend, caring sister and patient aunt. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Wenk Funeral Home on Payn Avenue, Chatham. Funeral services will be at St. James Catholic Church at 11 a.m., Monday, November 25. Interment to follow in Spencertown Cemetery.

Alberta R. Sears (1945 – 2013)
EAST NASSAU—Alberta Ruth Teal Sears, 68, died peacefully Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at her home in East Nassau.
Born in Troy April 14, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Erwin and Helen Geerhout Teal.
Mrs. Sears enjoyed being with her family, camping, cooking and doing crafts.
She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth E. Sears, Sr., who died in 2011; loving mother of Kenneth E. Sears, Jr., of East Nassau, Wanda J. Sears-Lacey of Dalton, MA, Denise H. (Carl) Schmidt of New Lebanon and Paul C. (Terry) Sears of East Chatham; adored grandmother of Nicole and Kari Schmidt and Kenny and Kaitlyn Sears; step-grandmother of John Archer; dear sister of Evelyn Myatt of Poestenkill, Elsie Miller of Stephentown, Edie Robinson of Wynantskill, Judy Marchand of Latham, Beverly Stockholm of West Sand Lake and the late Esther Holt and Deese Teal. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home in Stephentown.
Neville Anderson (1959 – 2013)
HUDSON—Neville Anderson of Hudson passed away November 10, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital at the age of 54.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23 at the Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse Church, 2885 Atlantic Avenue, Stottville, with Pastor O. J. Wells officiating.
