Thomas J. Keeler (1950 – 2013)
HUDSON—Thomas J. Keeler, 63, of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Hudson, January 23, 1950 to the late Kenneth and Virginia (Proper) Keeler.
He was the foreman of the City of Hudson Department of Public Works for more than 30 years. Mr. Keeler was a life member of Rogers Hose #2 Fire Company, a member of the Federation of Polish Sportsmen Club and a member of the Hudson Elks #787, where he served as a past exalted ruler, on the Board of Trustees, and was former Elk of the Year. He also enjoyed camping with his family.
Mr. Keeler is survived by: his beloved wife, Gretchen (Meicht) Keeler of Hudson; his devoted children, T. J. Keeler (Tonya) of Hillsdale and Michele Keeler of Hudson; three grandsons, Damian and Brandon Keeler and Cameron Bizzie.
Visiting hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 18 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson.

David Hoag (1933 – 2013)
HUDSON—David Hoag, 80, a longtime resident of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, October 15 at Community Hospice in Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hudson, January 20, 1933, he was the son of the late David B. and Anna (Maddison) Hoyt.
Mr. Hoag was a self-employed painter and served in the U.S. Army in the late 1950s. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his garden.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Beverly (Cole) Hoag; three daughters, Maryann and (Danny) Houghtaling of Stockport, June Hoag and her longtime companion Darren Babjeck and Kim and (Jim) Carver of Hudson; one brother, Lonnie Hoyt of Stottville; one sister, Bertha Weed of Hudson; six grandchildren, Daniel Houghtaling, Jr., Corey David Hoag, Paige Ann Hoag, Stacy Lynn Carver, James Stewart Carver, Jr., Brett James Carver; 10 great-grandchildren; and close loved ones, Rebecca Garrison, Shasta Carver, Bob Brooks, Kristy Thorsey, Steve Oles and Crystal Dollar.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Charlie Hoyt, and two sisters, Ann “Nooxie” Dinardi and Doris Maxwell.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will be Friday, October 18, 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial with military honors at Cedar Park Cemetery.
Donald E. Hendrickson (1945 – 2013)
HUDSON—Donald E. Hendrickson, 68, of Germantown died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born January 26, 1945 in Brocton, MA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Hall) Hendrickson.
Formerly of Germantown, Mr. Hendrickson served with the U.S. Navy during the VietNam era. He served as one of the original constables for the Town of Germantown and was a former member of the Germantown Fire Company. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In the late 1970s he moved to Texas, where he worked as a computer data processor for Sprint Corporation. After retiring in 2008, he returned to the area.
Survivors include: his sister, Helen Lawlor of Germantown, her children, James Lawlor, Jr., Esther Bates-Howard and Mona Lawlor-Engasser; one brother, Arthur Hendrickson, Jr., of Boise, Idaho, and his children, Arthur Hendrickson, Christina Burden, and Joshua Hendrickson.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 18 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home in Germantown.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19 at the funeral home with interment to follow in the Reformed Church Cemetery in Germantown.
Geraldine A. Gogerty (1922 – 2013)
RHINEBECK—Geraldine A. Gogerty, 91, of Rhinebeck, formerly of Claverack and Bronxville, died Saturday, October 12, 2013.
For many years, Ms. Gogerty was an executive secretary at National Geographic Magazine in New York City.
Born January 8, 1922 in Mount Vernon, the daughter of the late Karl and Florence (Lichti) Lundt.
Her husband, Edward G. Gogerty died in 1977.
She is survived by her nephews, Richard G. Krueger and Ronald H. Hanson of Rhinebeck.
Funeral services and burial will be private. She will be interred next to her husband in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.

Thomas Philip Farnam (1947 – 2013)
ALFORD, MA—Thomas Philip Farnam of Alford, MA, passed on to eternal life October 12, 2013 at home with his loving family at his side, following a seven-year courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 15, 1947 in Albany to the late Dr. Philip and Margaret (McCune) Farnam, he grew up in Hudson and also lived in Stuyvesant and Alford, MA, where he raised his family.
After graduating from St. Mary’s Academy in Hudson, Mr. Farnam earned a BA degree in American studies from St. Michael’s College, Winooski, Vermont, and a MS in childhood education from Russell Sage College in Troy.
What began as temporary employment grew into a fulfilling and rewarding 40-year career for Mr. Farnam who taught hundreds of youth in the Hudson City School District: kindergarten and grade 4 at Greenport School, kindergarten at Claverack School and grades 5 and 6 at Montgomery C. Smith Middle School. He was a teacher at the middle school when he retired in June 2008.
While living in Hudson, Mr. Farnam was an active member and captain of C.H. Evans Hook and Ladder Company #3 before being named first assistant chief of the Hudson Fire Department.
He was a man of the arts. An accomplished pianist, clarinetist and trumpet player, he also enjoyed playing the organ. Playing the trumpet with the Ghent Band for many years brought him great happiness as did the camaraderie he shared with fellow musicians in the band. He also enjoyed playing the horn with his students in their school band concerts. Mr. Farnam briefly helped teach dance at Roz’s Dance Works in Hudson and performed in musical productions with the Hudson Teachers’ Association Players, the Ghent Players and Mac-Haydn Theatre.
Mr. Farnam was strongly connected to church and spirituality, bringing his talents to music ministries as a choir member, soloist, bell keeper, organist and lector in church congregations in both Columbia and Berkshire counties. He felt especially privileged to have studied voice with Charles Olegar and to have sung in his music ministry. Mr. Farnam’s spirituality and unfailing faith in God’s healing power, often expressed through his music, guided him through his seven-year fight for his life.
During the past five years, he and his family made many trips to Ireland, choosing the beautiful Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry as a kind of second home. The views over Dingle Bay, explorations through the Conor Pass, the many friends made among Dingle folk, all provided a special healing environment for him and lifelong friendships for his family.
Mr. Farnam is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Gansowski) Farnam, son, Brendan Thomas Farnam and daughter, Keeley Maeve Farnam, all of Alford, MA; daughter, Sarah Kathleen Farnam, Sarasota, Florida; daughter, Jenny Farnam Neuhoff and son-in-law Joseph Neuhoff of Waretown, NJ; and son, Brett Farnam of Imperial, Missouri; his sister, Mary Elizabeth (Farnam) Vincent and brother-in-law, Curtis Vincent of Claverack; nephews, Matthew C. Vincent of Manhattan and Daniel Farnam Vincent of Brooklyn and a cousin, Connor O’Rourke of Santa Clara, California. He was predeceased by his aunt, Elizabeth M. O’Rourke; his uncle, Thomas Farnam and cousin, Joseph F. O’Rourke.
Friends are invited and may call Friday, October 18, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Rock Solid Church, Union Street, Hudson.
