Elfrieda Anne Weber (1917 – 2013)

EASt CHATHAM—Elfrieda Anne Weber died peacefully at home, August 28, 2013.

Born Elfrieda Anne Scarborough, August 5, 1917 in Columbia, SC, she met and married Robert Weber in 1940.

He predeceased her in 2011. They had been married for 70 years.

Mrs. Weber is survived by: her son, Robert Weber, Jr., and his wife, Wende Garton; her daughter, Dianne Spoto and her husband Frank and their children Jon and Elisabeth Spoto; and her daughter, Carol Anne Weber and her children Kimberly Meizinger and Dawn Carney; one great-grandchild, Mikaila Rain Carney; her brother, Arthur Scarborough of Merrimack, New Hampshire.

A memorial service for both Robert and Elfrieda will be held at a future date. That date will be announced at www.frenchblasl.com and condolences may be conveyed there as well.

Sara Jennie Wood Mullins (1924 – 2013)

HUDSON—On Friday, August 30, Sara Jennie Wood Mullins died while on comfort care at Columbia Memorial Hospital, August 30.  She was 88.

Born October 17, 1924, she was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, James Patrick Mullins.

Family was the most important thing in her life.  Her parents were William and Jennie Wood, her siblings Henry Wood, Donald Wood and Harriet [Wood] Dennis.

She raised her children, Patricia Raup, Henry Mullins and Tami Mullins in the white house with a porch across from the Dairy Queen in Ghent, where she resided for more than 50 years.

She had five grandchildren, Joshua Raup, William Raup, J. Patrick Mullins, Katie Mullins and Caroline Mullins as well as three great-grandchildren, Erin Raup, Sophia Raup and Lily Raup.

She loved her nieces and nephews, Joan [Dennis] Yanacone, William Dennis, David Dennis, Lola [Wood] Springer, Linda [Wood] Burton and Charles Wood, and extended that love to their families.

Trained as a nurse at Samaritan Hospital in Troy during the years of World War II, she spent many years as a homemaker and later as a dental assistant for Dr. Mesick in Chatham.

The burial service conducted by the Reverend Konrad Raup will be held Monday, September 2 at the Ghent Union Cemetery.  She was a lifelong resident of Chatham and Ghent and proud of it.
