Eric E. Izzo (1962 – 2013)

PHILMONT—Eric E. Izzo, 51, passed away unexpectedly August 8, 2013.

He was born January 13, 1962 in Meriden, CT, to Robert and JoAnne Izzo.

Mr. Izzo grew up in Riverside, California and moved to Philmont, which he called home for the last 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending weekends at his brother Joe’s house. He was always there to lend a helping hand to all.

Mr. Izzo is survived by: his parents, Robert J. Izzo of Greenport and JoAnne Mason of Riverside, CA; two brothers, Ronald J. Izzo (Della) of Riverside, CA, and Joseph R. Izzo of Columbiaville; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Jay Izzo of Montana and Tony Izzo of Colorado.

Mr. Izzo was a good man and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Philmont Food Pantry in memory of Mr. Izzo. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.

Harold J. Domkoski (1950 – 2013)

LIVINGSTON—Harold “Harry” John Domkoski, 63, of Livingston passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Greenport August 11, 1950, he was the son of the late Harold Joseph and Rose Ann (Otty) Domkoski.

Mr. Domkoski was retired from the Columbia County Department of Public Works, Facilities Division.

He was a former member of Greenport Pumper Company #1.   Graduating from Hudson High School in 1968, he played on the varsity soccer team. While he enjoyed playing softball, fishing, hunting and bowling, his passion during his free time was riding motorcycles.

He is survived by: one brother, David Domkoski of Hudson; one sister-in-law, Jeannetta Domkoski of Chatham; two nephews, Larry J. Domkoski, Jr., of Old Chatham and Dominic Domkoski of Hudson; two nieces, Jill Domkoski of Ghent and Dynasty Domkoski of Virginia Beach, VA; several uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Larry J. Domkoski, Sr.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 16 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.  A calling hour will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in St. Thomas Lutheran Cemetery in Churchtown.

Shirley Mae McCagg (1931 – 2013)

VALATIE—Shirley Mae McCagg passed away at Barnwell Nursing Home, Saturday, August 10, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 7, 1931 in Hudson, the daughter of the late Sherwood and Irene Garrison.

She graduated from Hudson High School and married John McCagg, August 14, 1949, a blessed union of 58 years.

Mrs. McCagg is survived by: her five children, Sherwood McCagg (Tonja), Judie Lange (Bob), Jack McCagg (Rita), Petrena Craver (Willy), Bonnie Bertram (Jim); 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, John and her sister, Doris Conte.

Mrs. McCagg had several different jobs, but her favorites were working at the Mother Goose Boutique and in the medical office of Dr. Skarp and Dr. Singer. Her favorite pastime was making Christmas crafts which her children will display each Christmas in loving memory of their “mom.”

She also had a green thumb which was evident in the lovely gardens on display at her house on Snyder Road.

Mrs. McCagg was a lifelong member of the Ghent Reformed Church. She was also a member of the Ghent Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Because of her love of all animals, especially cats, donations are suggested to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534.

Services were Tuesday, August 13 at the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham. Interment followed in the Ghent Union Cemetery. To send online condolences visit
