Katherine D. Onufrychuk
GREENPORT—Katherine D. Onufrychuk, 86, of Greenport died Saturday August 10, 2013 at her home.
Born in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Gladys (Bush) Gabrielle.
In her youth, Mrs. Onufrychuk worked as a chamber maid in several resorts in the Catskills and later worked at the Sweater Mill, Kadin Brothers and Sylvia’s Dress Shop. She enjoyed cooking every Sunday for her family, long car rides, reading, playing games with her grandchildren and rooting for the New York Yankees. Her favorite pastime was going to casinos and playing the slots. She was a devout communicant of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Hudson, and was a life member of the Greenport Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Onufrychuk was predeceased by her husband, John Onufrychuk, Sr., August 11, 2000.
Survivors include: her children, John, Jr. (Catherine) Onufrychuk, Sue Ann (Eugene) Shetsky, Stella Stewart Roberts (Herbert), Jane (Daniel) Mack; grandchildren, Stacy (Peter) Clum, Shane Stewart, Kera and Sheryl Shetsky, Jacob and Conner Mack; her beloved border collies, Tino, Jeter and the late Squeaky.
She was also predeceased by brothers and sisters, David Gabrielle, Frank “Toby” Gabrielle, Teresa Deamer, Florence Rogers and Viola Corratii.
Panakhyda prayers were August 13 at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Services were Wednesday, August 14 at the funeral home, with a funeral Mass at St. Michaels Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 59 Partition Street, Hudson. Anne E. Irwin (1951 – 2013)
ALBANY—Anne E. Irwin, 61, of Valatie died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Albany Medical Center.
Born December 9, 1951 in San Antonio, TX, she was the daughter of the late Kendall and Bonny (Campbell) Lowry.
Mrs. Irwin was a waitress at Canterbury Ales in Huntington for many years as well as a secretary for the Huntington School system.
She is survived by: her husband, Richard E. Irwin; one daughter, Lisa Irwin of Mechanicville; three step-children, Tara Geller and Christopher Irwin, both of Virginia, and Richard M. Irwin of CT; two brothers, Michael Lowry of Hyannis, MA, and John Lowry Northport; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
Margaret M. Poucher (1925 – 2013)
ALBANY—Margaret “Peg” M. Poucher, 88, of Stottville, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Albany Medical Center.
She was born in Stockport, April 23, 1925 to the late Fred L. Martin and Margaret (Walsh) Martin. She was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Poucher was employed as a payroll clerk at the Juliard Mills in Stottville, as an office clerk at Columbia Memorial Hospital and as an office manager for John A. Alvarez & Sons in Greenport, She retired in 1990.
Mrs. Poucher was a past member and altar guild member at St. Barnabas Church in Stottville. She was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Stockport. She was a member of the Columbia Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Red Hat Society, a former bowler and enjoyed exercising and being physically active.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William A. Poucher in 1999; her son, William Gregory Poucher; two brothers, Fred and Lyle Martin and three sisters, Iris Harder, Hettie Dunford and Claire Fitzgerald.
She was the devoted mother of Sharon Margaret Poucher of Stottville and David B. Poucher and his wife, Joanne B. Poucher of Stockport, and loving grandmother of Adrianne M. Poucher of Claverack and Amilee M. Poucher of Albany.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 15 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Prayers will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, August 16 at the funeral home, followed by services at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Stockport.
Burial will be in Mellenville Union Cemetery.

Mabel B. Wloch (1925 – 2013)
GHENT—Mabel B. Wloch, 88, formerly of Greenport, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Whittier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center with her loving family at her side.
She was born February 21, 1925 in Hudson, the daughter of the late William and Alice (Kelly) Walsh. She was a lifelong area resident.
She worked at the Hudson Knitting Mills for more than 42 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Stockport and Greenport Senior Citizens and loved traveling, going to the casinos, slot machines and crocheting. She was devoted to her family.
Mrs. Wloch was the beloved mother of Stephen H. Wloch, Jr., and his wife, Jeannine, of Columbiaville; devoted grandmother of Nichole Hoyt and her husband, Lonnie, of Columbiaville, and a loving great-grandmother to many. She also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen H. Wloch in 2003; three brothers, William, John and Ken Walsh and her sister, Dorothy Hagadorn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 15 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Betty A. Wester (1933 – 2013)
HUDSON—Betty A. Wester of Chatham passed away August 10, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Born May 7, 1933, in Kinderhook, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine Ilhing Bernhoft.
Ms. Wester was predeceased by: her brothers, Frederick Bernhoft Jr. and William Bernhoft; her sisters, Dolores Pacanda and Muriel Pawlik.
She is survived by: her four children, Lucinda Burrows, Terri Wester Baker, Michael and David Wester; her six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Ms. Wester was employed at Crellin Plastics for 22 years.
