Cynthia J. Coulter (1951 – 2013)
HUDSON—A memorial tribute to the late Cynthia J. Coulter will be held at the Hudson Opera House, Sunday, July 28, 2 to 4 p.m.
Ms. Coulter, an accomplished artist whose work with found objects was widely exhibited and acclaimed throughout the U.S., died April 20 at the Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Influenced by American folk art objects, outsider art and ancient scrollwork, Ms. Coulter explored materials with “past lives.” She is perhaps best known for her work with Indian canoe skins, which she transformed into large horizontal or vertical murals that were collaged with provocative, visually narrative elements. Ms. Coulter exhibited widely throughout the U.S. and was reviewed by the New York Times and other major publications. She was the recipient of grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Eben Demarest Trust and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. She received numerous awards, including the New York Foundation for the Arts ‘Featured Artist’ and the 2000 Artist of the Mohawk-Hudson Region Juried Exhibition. She lived in Columbia County for many years, and she was represented at the time of her death by BCB ART in Hudson. A complete obituary appeared in the May 2, 2013 issue.
Alan F. Clark (1932 – 2013)
ALBANY—Alan F. Clark of Ancram, originally of London, England, then Manhattan, and since 1976, his beloved Columbia County, ex-husband and forever best friend of Agi Clark, loving and loved father of Oren and of grandchildren Aidan and Thalia, was killed before his time in a devastating car accident on County Route 11 in Taghkanic, July 18.
He is going to be terribly missed also by his brother, David Clark and his family and so many friends who loved and admired him for his warm, generous heart, for his gentleness and wonderful sense of humor, and his talents at anything he chose to do.
Mr. Clark loved life, traveled the world, rode his bikes and motorcycle all around Columbia County, was a lifelong Tour de France and Formula 1 fan, and loved his (and everyone else’s) dogs and cats.

Edna Mae Lupinos-Sharp (1922 – 2013)
GHENT—Edna Mae Lupinos-Sharp, 91, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Whittier Skilled Nursing Center.
Born June 22, 1922 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Taylor.
Mrs. Lupinos-Sharp was a cashier at Grossman’s Lumber in Greenport. Previously, she worked as a packer at the match factory and as a bookkeeper for the Hendrick Hudson Bowling Lanes. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson, an avid bowler and enjoyed going to the casinos with her family.
She was predeceased by her husbands, William Lupinos and Franklin Sharp.
Mrs. Lupinos-Sharp is survived by: two sons, Robert A. Lupinos of Greenport and William J. Lupinos of Arizona; two grandchildren, William R. Lupinos of Washington and Danielle Lupinos of Las Vegas; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Prayers were held Wednesday, July 24 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Burial was in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Albert P. Craft (1925 – 2013)
HUDSON—Albert P. Craft, 87, formerly of Greenport, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Firemen’s Home.
Born December 8, 1925 in Saugerties, he was the son of the late Chauncy and Kathryn (Norton) Craft.
His father was a farmer and his mother was a homemaker.
Mr. Craft was the middle child of five. He was predeceased by his sister and three brothers.
When he was five-years-old the family moved to Newton Hook in Columbia County. He attended Stuyvesant Falls High School. Mr. Craft worked for awhile and then was drafted into the Navy. He served during World War II as a seaman first class gunner’s mate and saw active combat. After the service he went to work for the New York Central Railroad. He worked at various jobs as a laborer throughout his life, mainly as a welder. His places of employment include McGuire’s, Foster Refrigerator Corporation, McCall’s Refrigerator Corporation and Price Chopper.
Mr. Craft liked being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. When he was young he used to make model trains. He was a member of J.W. Edmonds Hose Company for 41 years, a member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson, and a former member of the Hudson VFW and the American Legion.
He is survived by: his beloved wife, Sharon Novak-Craft, whom he married April 29, 2002; three children; several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 25 in the Firemen’s Home Chapel, followed by services at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Firemen’s Home Cemetery. A reception will follow after the burial. Everyone is welcome.

John P. Colwell, Jr. (1955 – 2013)
WATERVLIET—John P. Colwell, Jr., 58, of Watervliet died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home.
Born June 1, 1955 in Troy, he was the son of the late John P. and Emily (DeGeorgio) Colwell, Sr.
Mr. Colwell was a correction officer for Albany County Corrections. Those who knew Mr. Colwell will remember him for many reasons. Some will remember him for his seemingly ever present smile. Some will remember him for his cool, calm and collected demeanor. Some will remember him for his uncanny ability to tell a story and really make it come to life. But those who knew Mr. Colwell best will remember him for the love he had for his family. Above all other things in life, his greatest and dearest treasure was his family. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by: his wife, Jennifer (Lewis) Colwell; two sons, Chris Colwell (Caroline) of Troy and Frank Colwell (Jette Lembecke) of Deerfield Beach, FL; two sisters, Maria Colwell and Kathy Bottillo, both of Troy; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, John P. Colwell, III.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 23 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Burial followed for Mr. Colwell and his son at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie.
