John “Jack” E. Cornell (1941 – 2013)
GREENPORT—John “Jack” E. Cornell, 71, of Greenport, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at his residence.
Born November 29, 1941 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Ernest and Irene Cornell.
Mr. Cornell was a civil engineer with New York State Department of Transportation and retired after 37 years. He also worked for FEMA. He was a life-member of Greenport Pumper Company #1, a member of the Federation of Polish Sportsmen, a member of the Hudson Fish & Game Club, a member of the Greenport Fire Police and a member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed boating, camping and outdoor cooking.
He is survived by: his wife, Beverly Cornell of Greenport; five children, Kathleen (Kenneth) Jackson of Phoenicia, Carol Shattel of Lacona, Michele (Mike O’Connell) Brophy of Olive Bridge, Paula (Victor) Des Rosiers of Kinderhook, Elizabeth (Michael) Pagnani of Stottville; four step-children, Bryan (Kelly) Sambrook of East Greenbush, Leanne (John) Birchenough of Rensselaer, Jessica (Josh) Van Alstine of Austerlitz and Erika (Dave) Hammond of Glenmont; 18 grandchildren, Dylan McIntyre, Nicole, Erika and Cody Pruett, John Hackbarth, Christopher and Trevor Brophy, Chelsea O’Connell, Heather and Morgan DesRosiers, Simon and Arlo Pagnani, Meghan and Brenna Sambrook, Leo and Anna Lee Birchenough, Tyler and Tanner Van Alstyne; three great-grandchildren, and several cousins.
Visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 15 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Irene Van Deusen (1920 – 2013)
LIVINGSTON—Irene Sheldon Van Deusen, 92, of Churchtown passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home.
Born June 13, 1920 in Churchtown, she was the daughter of the late DeWitt and Cora Sheldon. She was raised in Glenco Mills and attended Hudson public schools.
Mrs. Van Deusen was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Churchtown. She married Kenneth Van Deusen in 1941 and they were married for 31 years before his passing in 1972.
Mrs. Van Deusen is survived by: her daughter, Judith Widman of Springfield, MO; two sons, Eric Van Deusen of Churchtown and Donald Van Deusen of Troy; two granddaughters, Adair Welch of Poughkeepsie and Susanna Capps of Springfield, MO, and three grandsons, Luke Welch of De Kalb, Ill, Mark Welch of Los Angeles, CA, and Joel Widman of Owensboro, KY.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, John Welch.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 15 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10 am Tuesday at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Churchtown. Burial will be in St. Thomas Lutheran Cemetery.

Adele M. Heintz (1915 – 2013)
GHENT—Adele M. Heintz, 97, a resident of Whittier Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Stuyvesant Falls, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the center.
Born June 7, 1915 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Elksner) Primsky.
Mrs. Heintz worked in the offices in Marsh’s Department Store in Hudson for many years.
She was the aunt of many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her husband, Edward Heintz and siblings, Aldina Horoschak, Eva Jenkins, Helen Jaenisch and John Primsky.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 11 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Valatie, with the Reverend Gary Gelfenbein officiating.
Burial will follow in Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 9:30 to 11a.m. prior to the funeral.

George Williams (1945 – 2013)
HUDSON—George Williams, 67, of Whittier Adult Home in Ghent died April 8, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born Mary 15, 1945 in Albany, he had been disabled most of his adult life.
He is survived by many friends at Whittier and at the Abbey in Albany.
A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, April 10 at the Linlithgo Rural Cemetery with the Reverend David Tipple officiating.
