Douglas T. Crawford (1937 – 2013)

ALBANY—Douglas T. Crawford, 76, of Valatie passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 under hospice care at Albany Memorial Hospital after fighting a courageous six-month battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

He was born March 10, 1937 in Huntington, Long Island, to the late Robert and Lillian (Tandy) Crawford.

He graduated from the Long Island Agricultural and Technical Institute, Farmingdale with a major in ornamental horticulture. He worked many years for Atlantic Richfield and most recently part-time for Hannaford Trucking. After his full-time retirement, he pursued his life-time dream of starting his own business, thus Rocky Pond Nursery was formed. His business has produced extraordinary cut flowers, herbs and garlic.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Rosemary (Pratt) Crawford; one son, Keith Crawford (Tammy); one daughter, Lauren Phillips (Jim Bramah); two grandsons, Timothy Crawford and Steven Phillips and one granddaughter, Julia Phillips. He is also survived by his wife’s children, Frank, Nick, Doreen and Ed Costa (Brandy); three grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Edward Pratt and sister-in-law, Gina Crawford and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Crawford.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 27 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Valatie.

Anne D. Miller (1928 – 2013)

ALBANY—Anne D. Miller, 84, of Greenport, died Saturday, March 23 at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Born June 29, 1928, in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Marion (Morrison) Day.

Mrs. Miller was a switchboard operator for the former V & O Press in Hudson and later was a cashier for Niagara-Mohawk. She was a communicant of the Church of St. Joseph in Stottville.

She is survived by one son, Daniel J. (Ellen) Miller of Hudson and one daughter, Nancy Miller of Warwick, RI. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul C. “Bo” Miller and a sister, Alice Jeanne Day.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 27, 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Joseph, Atlantic Avenue, Stottville with Fr. Winston Bath officiating.

Grace Meano (1922 – 2013)

HUDSON–Grace Meano, 91, of Stockport, died Saturday, March 23 at Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Brooklyn, August 29, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Mary (McGuire) Mathews.

Mrs. Meano was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grand- and great-grandmother. She is survived by: four sons, Robert J. and (Mildred) Meano of Rockaway Queens, Michael and (Maureen) Meano of Middletown, DE, Thomas Meano of North Bergen, NJ, and Alfred Meano of Livingston; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Angelo Meano, Sr., in 1995; one son, Angelo Meano, Jr.; four brothers and three sisters.

Calling hours will be Monday, March 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 26, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Atlantic Avenue, Stottville, with Fr. Frank O’Connor officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, NJ.
