Elizabeth (Betty) Rundell (1924 – 2013)

CHATHAM—Elizabeth (Betty) Rundell, 88, a long-time resident of Chatham died Thursday, March 21 at her residence.

She was born July 28, 1924 in Hudson, the daughter of the late Carl and Jennie (Vincent) Steuerwald.

She graduated from Chatham High School. She married her husband, the late Robert M. Rundell in 1943. She was employed as an office manager with the Chatham Central School for many years and retired in 1978. Mrs. Rundell served as treasurer and vice-president on the Payn Foundation Board in Chatham, was a member of the Chatham United Methodist Church and served as a trustee and treasurer.

She was a member of the Christian Business and Professional Women’s Club. She is survived by a sister, Helen Welch of Chatham.

She was predeceased by brothers, Vincent Taxwood and Carl R. Steuerwald, and a sister, Dorothy Walthousen.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2 to 3 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. at the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham. Spring inurnment will be in the Ghent Union Cemetery. Burton Owen Krafte (1930 – 2013)

NORTH CAROLINA—Dr. Burton O. Krafte passed away March 20, 2013 at the University of North Carolina Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born December 23, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Matthew and Sylvia Krafte.

He attended Seton Hall University and then went on to the University of Geneva, Switzerland where he received his medical degree. He began his medical career as an intern at Maryland Medical Center in Newark, NJ, and followed that with an OB-GYN residency at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn.

Dr Krafte served two years at the Ireland Army Hospital at Fort Knox, KY before moving to Columbia County in 1963. There he joined the staff at Columbia Memorial Hospital and eventually became head of OB/GYN and established a long-standing private practice in Hudson. He retired from medicine in 1990.

Dr. Krafte was past-president of the Columbia County Medical Society, past-president of COARC and a longtime member of the Columbia Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed his favorite hobby frequently.

Dr. Krafte married Jean Gratkowski June 7, 1958 and the couple was married for more than 50 years until her passing in 2011.

He is survived by: sons, Douglas Krafte of Chapel Hill, NC and Geoffrey Krafte of Philmont; grandchildren, Corey, Katie and Grace Krafte of Chapel Hill, NC, and one brother, Malcolm Krafte of Boynton Beach, FL.

There will be no calling hours and a private service at the request of the family.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to COARC, P.O. Box 2, Mellenville 12544.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Bates and Anderson Funeral Home with burial at Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

Anne M. Fulton (1914 – 2013)

HUDSON—Anne M. Fulton, 99, of Valatie died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born January 13, 1914 in Vestaburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Kosciuk.

She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, John R. Fulton who passed away in July of 1978. Mrs. Fulton moved to Valatie from Rensselaer eight years ago having previously lived in Brooklyn, Freehold and Cairo. She was a housewife and for many years and was active in cub scouting.

She is survived by one son, John D. Fulton of Valatie and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 26 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Valatie, with the Reverend Joseph Falletta officiating. Calling hours will be Monday, March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jimmie L. Gordon (1921 – 2013)

LIVINGSTON—Jimmie L. Gordon, 91, of Hudson, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home.

Born April 25, 1921 in Macon, Georgia, he was the son of the late Jim H. and Alice (Lawson) Gordon.

He was a machine operator at the L & B Corporation in Hudson before retiring.  Mr. Gordon was an active member and deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hudson.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Huggins) Gordon in 2005, five sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Gordon is survived by: his devoted daughters, Cheryl Gordon and Sandra Pell, both of Hudson; his loving sister, Margaret Berston of Chicago, IL; three special grandchildren, Galen Pell of Hudson, William Pell, Jr., of Washington, D.C., and Nicole Lashley of Deltona, FL; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be announced at a later date.
