Louis A. Curcio, Sr. (1924 – 2012)
HUDSON—Louis A. Curcio, Sr., 88, of Ghent, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born November 17, 1924 in Hudson, he was the son of the late James and Minnie Curcio.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the Company B 748th Railroad Operation Battalion. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Curcio was the owner and operator of Lou’s Barber Shop in Philmont for more than 40 years, but had been a barber for more than 60 years.
He was a member of the Ghent Fire Company for more than 40 years, a member of the Philmont American Legion and an honorary member of the Philmont Rescue Squad and the Philmont Fire Company. He enjoyed gardening and wood carving.
Mr. Curcio was the beloved husband of Rosemarie (Donne) Curcio of Ghent; devoted father of Louis Curcio, Jr., of Texas; loving brother of Joseph Curcio of Ohio and Carmella Maturi of Hudson and special uncle of several nieces and nephews, including Tom Cody of Stottville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Charles, and three sisters, Ralphalina Cody, Betty Landry, and Rose Gaudio.
Prayers were held at Monday, December 10 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Parish, Holy Family Church in Stottville.
Burial was in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Anna Mary Dunton (1923 – 2012)
PITTSFIELD, MA—Anna Mary Girdler Dunton, born May 12, 1923 in Canaan, passed away December 4, 2012 in Pittsfield, MA.
She resided for most of her life in Canaan and served as the town historian for more than 40 years. She was a founding member and curator of the Canaan Historical Society and also was a member of the Columbia County Historical Society and of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Mrs. Dunton worked for many years as a registered nurse and retired from Berkshire Farm School for Boys.
She is survived by her three children: Susan (Robert) Smith, Timothy (Youling) Dunton and Bill (Cheryl) Dunton; seven grandchildren, Carrie Lenic, Mairin O’Rourke, Patrick O’Rourke, JamieAnn Dunton, Christina Dunton, Eric Dunton and Sarah Dunton. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Lawrence Earl Dunton.
Funeral services are private at the request of the family, but a celebration honoring Mrs. Dunton’s life will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Canaan Firehouse, 2126 Route 295 for those who wish to share their memories of her.

Doris Regina Ban (1918 – 2012)
HUDSON or GHENT—On Friday, December 7, 2012, God welcomed a new angel, Doris Regina (Boyce) Ban, LPN.
Born May 28, 1918 in Mount Vernon, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Anna Boyce.
She grew up in Lodi, Ohio and was a graduate of Rittman High School. Later in life she graduated as an LPN from Columbia Memorial School of Nursing. She was a nurse at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Kring Nursing Home and Eden Park Nursing Home. She was later a private nurse for the Frederick Church family and other local families. She will be remembered as a caring, loving nurse to many.
She was predeceased by her son, William Louis Nixon, four brothers, Jerry (Martha) Boyce, William (Camille) Boyce, Carl (Wanda) Boyce and Jack (Norma) Boyce, and two sisters, Helen Shondel and Juanita Vavrina.
Besides being mother to William, she is the loving mother to Mary Ann Nixon (Jack) Piester, Donna Ban (David) June and James L. Ban, Jr., (companion Nirell Hall); eight grandchildren, Vicki (Ken) Whelihan, Todd (Alison) June, John (Kate) Piester, Michael (Amy) Piester, Tim (Cyndi) Nixon, Amy Nixon, Heather (Chris) Gerard and Ryan Nixon; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, December 10 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home with funeral services following. Burial was in Cedar Park Cemetery.
