Dale H. Bartholf (1936 – 2012)

POUGHKEEPSIE—Dale H. Bartholf, 76, a lifelong resident of Pine Plains, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

He was born July 18, 1936 in Sharon, CT, the son of Waverly and Ruth (Hamilton) Bartholf.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1955 until 1958.

Mr. Bartholf was a mechanic for the Pine Plains Central School District for 31 years, retiring in 2001. He later worked for Lo-Nan farms.

On May 22, 1960 in Pine Plains, he married Barbara Byrnes. She survives him at home.

Mr. Bartholf was a 50-year member of the Pine Plains Hose Company and past assistant chief. He was also a member of the Pine Plains Rescue Squad and the PPCRUE, retired employees of the Pine Plains Central School District.

He was an avid bowler, golfer and hunter/outdoorsman. Mr. Bartholf enjoyed following NASCAR, his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr.

In addition to his loving wife, Barbara, he is survived by: his three children, Dawn Smith and her husband Greg of California, David Bartholf and his wife Kelly of Pine Plains and Denise Loveland and her husband Mark of Tivoli; six grandchildren, Michael and Lindsey Smith, Heather and Ashley Bartholf, Alecia and Jimmy Loveland; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the funeral home.
