Joseph W. Treadway (1922 – 2012)
LIVINGSTON—Joseph W. Treadway, 90, of Hudson died Sunday, November 10, 2012 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home .
Born August 12, 1922 in Indianapolis, Minnesota, he was the son of the late William and Lois (Burris) Treadway.
Prior to his retirement, he had worked for many years as a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include: his sister, Vivian Swafford of Bloomington, IN and many friends at the Dutch Village, where he made his home.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
Private cremation was held at Cedar Hill Crematory of Newburgh.
Lois Anne O’Connell (1944 – 2012)
GREENPORT—Lois Anne O’Connell passed away surrounded by her family November 9, 2012.
Born April 19, 1944 in Ossining, she was the daughter of Robert and Myrtle (Maxwell) Dunscomb.
She graduated from Ossining High School and in 1964 married her one true love, Joseph. In 1979, Mr. and Mrs. O’Connell and their three children moved to Greenport, where Mrs. O’Connell worked as a secretary for the Hudson City School District. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of returning to college and at the age of 52 graduated from Columbia-Greene Community College as a registered nurse. She retired from the Department of Corrections in October of 2011.
Mrs. O’Connell was proud to be president of the Town of Claverack Lioness Club. She was a founding member of P.A.U.S.E., which successfully defeated a proposed construction and demolition dump on the area’s drinking water. One of her proudest associations was being a volunteer for Community Hospice for 11 years.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, brother-in-law and nephew.
She is survived by: her husband of 48 years, Joseph T. O’Connell; three children, Sean of Baltimore, Joseph (Marie) of Greenport and Kathleen (Daniel) Dwyer of Corning; 10 marvelous grandchildren; two brothers, Paul of the home address and Robert of Poughkeepsie; a sister, Sandra Palladino; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation and private services will be held at the convenience of the family. A tribute to her life will held and announced at a later date.
Donations in Mrs. O’Connell’s memory may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414 and would be appreciated by the family.

Thomas Blass (1942 – 2012)
TEMPLE, TX—Thomas Richard Blass, 70, of Salado, TX, passed away November 7, 2012 in a Temple hospital.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Belton with Chaplain John Tidball officiating. His body was cremated.
He was born January 31, 1942 in Hudson to Cecil and Emily (Piester) Blass.
Mr. Blass joined the U.S. Army, January 17, 1963 in Albany and retired June 30, 1983 in Fort Hood, TX. He served in Korea and Vietnam.
He married Denny Roe, August 12, 1972 in Belton,TX.
After his retirement from the military, he worked as head of maintenance for Chapel Hill and Barge Properties for 20 years.
Survivors are: his wife, Denny Blass of Salado; one son, Thomas Richard Blass, Jr., now serving in Afghanistan; two daughters, Cheryl Caballero and Laurie Burrier Kissire, both of Temple; two brothers, James Blass of Copake and Gerald Blass of Chatham; two sisters, Mary Linda Harrington of Philmont and Wendy Dodds-Green of Hillsdale; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Alfred A. Mackay (1943 – 2012)
HUDSON—Alfred A. Mackay, 69, of Hopewell Junction died November 12, 2012 at the Firemen’s Home.
Born May 9, 1943 in Alyesbury, England, he was the son of the late William and Mary Mackay. He received his citizenship October 20, 1969.
He is survived by: his wife, Mary F. (Hogan) Mackay of Hopewell Junction, whom he married October 26, 1968; three sons, Scot and Donald, both of Hopewell Junction and Lance Corporal Ian Mackay (fiancee Jeanne Gauthier) of Jacksonville, NC; his grandson, Dylan Mackay; siblings, Iain (Janet) Mackay, Ann (Al) Tarchenski, Avril (Anthony) Paris and Samuel (Patricia) Freeman; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, William Mackay.
Mr. Mackay served in the U.S. Army from 1964 until 1967. He was a member of Teamsters Local 449, a Beekman Town councilman for 16 years, a life member of the Beekman Fire Company and Rescue Squad, and a former member of the Beekman Lions.
Mr. Mackey was a resident of the Firemen’s Home in Hudson, where the staff went out of its way to extend compassion and care to his everyday life.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 16 in the Firemen’s Home Chapel.
