Lillian M. Tkacy (1927 – 2012)
HUDSON—Lillian M. Tkacy, 85, of Hudson, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, October 19 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hudson, April 14, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Coons) Skura.
She was a communicant of Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson. She was employed for many years with A.M.A. “Big A” Garment Co. in Hudson and later in Coxsackie. She enjoyed walking, shopping, sitting in the park with her friends and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Tkacy is survived by: her son, Edward Tkacy; son-in-law, Sammy Garrison; grandchildren, Brian and Christine Shetsky, Michael and Susan Shetsky, Melissa and Earl (Shetsky) Scott; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Tara and Kyra Shetsky, Ryan and Tyler Goodman, Alex and Seth Scott.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Tkacy; daughter, Sonia Shetsky Garrison; grandson, Randie Hodges, Jr.; brothers, Marshal, Charles and Raymond Skura and sister, Ella M. Cotte.
Calling hours will be Monday, October 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 23, 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend John Perry officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
Helene U. Johnson (1930 – 2012)
LIVINGSTON—Helene Ursula Johnson, 82, of Hudson passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
Born in the Bronx, September 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Emilie (Bischopp) Hagstrand.
Mrs. Johnson worked in the packaging department at Coarc in Mellenville. She enjoyed drawing, embroidery and spirited conversations with her friends and family.
She is survived by: her daughter, Carol Johnson of East Chatham; a sister, Thelma Melenewski of Kerhonkson; a step-daughter, Virginia Johnson of Florida, and many good friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Johnson, and a daughter, Sharon Johnson.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 29 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Building, 713 Union Street, Hudson. Arrangements are with the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson.
