Shirley Weaver (1936 – 2012)

HUDSON—Shirley B. Weaver, 75, of Claverack died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born September 20, 1936 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Beatrice (Orstead) Shufelt.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for more than 27 years as a transporter in the Radiology Department at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Weaver was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and gardening.  For many years she served as captain with the former Southern Columbia Ambulance Squad and as a Little League coach.

Survivors include: her two sons, Wayne of Hudson and Scott of Saugerties; a daughter, Sharon Marco of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Faye (James) Potts of Viewmont and Nancy Weaver of Claverack; seven grand children; one great grandchild and eight nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas H. Weaver, III, who died November 18, 1994; a sister, Carol LaBelle and grandson, Brian Weaver.

There are no calling hours. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Livingston Cemetery.

Elizabeth Larsen (1940 – 2012)

HUDSON—Elizabeth “Betty” Larsen, 72, of Clermont died Friday, June 1, 2012 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born February 13, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Bishop) Whitney.

Ms. Larsen worked for more than 23 years as a custodian at the Germantown Central School.  She was a former member of the Clermont Fire Company Auxiliary, enjoyed sewing, gardening, bird watching and the out of doors. She was very artistic and produced many beautiful oil paintings.

Survivors include: her son, Richard Larsen of Hudson; two daughters, Robin Phillips and Amber Lathrop, both of Clermont; two brothers, Edward Whitney of Newburgh and Frank Whitney of Oregon; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Lathrop, who died September 3, 2011, and brother, George Whitney,

A celebration of her life will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home in Germantown. Services will be at 8 p.m. with the Reverend Theodore Gerken officiating.

W. William Christiana (1928 – 2012)

ALBANY—W. William Christiana, 84, of Ghent, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at Albany Medical Center.

Born January 2, 1928 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Virgil and Maude (Carney) Christiana.

Mr. Christiana was very proud of being a class A machinist.  He worked for McCall’s Refrigeration as a punch press operator for more than 30 years.  He loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing. He enjoyed woodworking and specialized in wishing wells. He owned and operated Bill’s Sport Shop in Ghent for 15 years and was an accomplished gunsmith. He was a 25-year member of the H.W. Rogers Hose Fire Company.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia (Weed) Christiana; his devoted daughters, Linda Ann Sutherland of Germantown and Kathy Jean Karpiak of Monroe; his loving grandson, Frederick Sutherland of Minneapolis, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters.

Visiting hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8 at Christ Church Episcopal, 431 Union Street, Hudson. Burial will be in Mellenville Union Cemetery.

Walter Munson, III

PENNSYLVANIA—Walter J. Munson, III, 62, of Pennsylvania, formerly of Germantown, passed away suddenly at his home, May 30, 2012.

He was the son of the late Walter J. and Catherine T. Munson of Linlithgo.

Survivors include: his wife, Sonia; daughter, Beth (Timothy) Castle; sons, Robert and Matthew; grandsons, Matthew Munson and Rowan Castle; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Coscio; sisters, Margaret (Steve) Olah, Catherine (James) Colfer; sister-in-law, Cecilia Coscio; one aunt, Marion Tocco; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside funeral service will be held at the Reformed Church Cemetery in Germantown, June 9, 2012 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Winston Bath officiating.
