Kathryn Crosby, 82, town clerk, collector of school taxes
PITTSFIELD, MA—Kathryn B. Crosby, 82, of Old Hudson Turnpike Road, Canaan died Monday, December 5 at Berkshire Medical Center.
She was born March 23, 1929 in Litchfield, CT, the daughter of the late George and Johanna (Higgins) Bailey.
She graduated from Litchfield High School and came to the Canaan area in 1950, where she served as town clerk and school tax collector for Chatham Central School, both for eight years. Mrs. Crosby was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon, the Canaan Protective Fire Company Ladies Auxillary, a charter member of the former Canaan V.F.W. Post # 8266 Ladies Auxillary and the Canaan Democratic Club.
She is survived by: a son, John H. Crosby Jr. and wife Robin of Canaan; daughter, Tammy and husband Gary Flaherty of Canaan; grandsons, Brandon Navom of Lowell, MA and P.O. 1st class Bryce Navom in Norfolk, VA, and great granddaughter, Iris Navom.
She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Crosby, Sr. in 2009 and daughter, Nancy Navom in 2003.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, December 9 from the Immaculate Conception Church, Route 20, New Lebanon. Interment followed in the Canaan Cemetery. Patricia Durlack, 76, bookkeeper, postal clerk
GREAT BARRINGTON, MA—Patricia M. Durlack, 76, a lifelong resident of Canaan, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Fairview Commons.
She was born October 18, 1935 in Pittsfield, MA, daughter of the late Lester W. and Mary (Petrasek) Coons.
She graduated from Chatham High School and Berkshire Business School. Mrs. Durlack worked for Columbia Corporation in Chatham as bookkeeper for two years and then for 30 years she was a postal clerk in the Canaan Post Office. Mrs. Durlack worked for Bill–Ben Contracting, the family business in Canaan for 29 years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William V .Durlack of Canaan; son, Kevin W. and wife Terry of Canaan; daughter, Stacy and husband James Etue of East Nassau; grandchildren, Ryan Etue and Nicole Durlack. She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.

JoAnn Pollard, 65, teacher’s assistant, liked photography
HUDSON—JoAnn Pollard, 65, of Elizaville died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born April 11, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late William and Ann (Breahler) Miller.
Mrs. Pollard was a member of the Church of the Resurrection of Germantown, the Jennings-Willet American Legion Auxiliary of Germantown and the Red Hook VFW Auxiliary.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed photography. For 15 years, she was a teacher’s assistant working with Special Needs individuals at BOCES in Kinderhook.
Surviving are: her husband, Stanley, whom she married December 30, 1972 in Rhinebeck; two sons, Kevin Pollard of Elizaville, Stanley R. Pollard and his wife Suzanne of Rotterdam; grandchildren, Miranda and her husband Rob, Chelsea, Angelina, Alex, Logan and Cooper.
She was predeceased by her brother Francis Miller.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 13 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home in Germantown.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14 from the funeral home and 10 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection (Holy Trinity Parish), Germantown, where a Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Theodore Gerken.
Interment will follow in the Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

Viola Snyder, 75, homemaker, devoted to family
GHENT—Viola K. Snyder, 75, formerly of Hudson, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Whittier Nursing Home.
Born July 23, 1936 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Frances Risch.
Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker and devoted to her family.
She is survived by: her brother, Dennis (Karen) Risch of Ghent; six children, Vernona “Nonie” (Carl) Hawver of Hudson, Gerald Moore, Sr. of Philmont, Tammy Snyder of Ohio, James (Liz) Snyder, Sr. of Stottville, Francis (JoAnn) Snyder of Greenport and Homer Snyder, Sr. of Hudson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Homer Snyder; her brother, Ralph Risch, Jr.; her sister, Margaret Welch, and a grandson, Gerald Moore, Jr.
Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 14 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
