Robert DeCrosta, 77, coach, Navy vet
HOUSTON, TX—Robert G. DeCrosta, Sr., “The Rock”, passed away quickly and peacefully, Monday, September 26, 2011 in Houston, Texas.
Born December 10, 1933 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Edward and Ann Marie DeCrosta.
He attended Hudson High School, where he excelled in all sports, especially football. He played scholarship football at Louisiana State University and then went on to a very successful career as a football coach.
The Catholic Diocese recruited him to start an athletic program for Bishop Dunne, a new school at that time, in Dallas, Texas, where he coached football, baseball, basketball and track, as well as, taught math and history. His football career spanned decades as he went on to coach at Bishop Lynch High School and Rice University.
Mr. DeCrosta was a veteran of the US Navy.
He is survived by: his children, Julie Palmacci, Robert “Bubba” DeCrosta, David DeCrosta and Traci Gholson; eight grandchildren, Ashlie, Alexx, David and Anthony DeCrosta, Erika, Alyssa and Nick Palmacci and Hunter Gholson; two siblings, Cristina Herzog and Edward DeCrosta; two great-grandchildren, Christian Nicholas DeCrosta and Hailey Kay DeCrosta; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. DeCrosta was predeceased by family members: Mary Nicholson, Louis DeCrosta, Virginia Gardner, Jeanette DeRose and Ann Marie Alger.
A calling hour will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson, followed by memorial services at noon.
Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

Ronald Thomson, 79, Korean War vet, musician, Giants fan
COPAKE—Ronald “Scotty” Thomson, 79, passed away peacefully October 7, 2011.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, April 8, 1932, he made his way to America by way of the Queen Elizabeth at the age of 17.
His accent earned him the nickname Scotty, and as a decorated Korean War veteran, he earned the right to his US citizenship. He loved America and took tremendous pride in his country and in all things American.
In chasing his childhood dreams of cowboys, in pursuing his love of country music and in capitalizing on his uncanny ability with animals, he was drawn after the war to spend many weekends in the Catskills at the former Timber Lane Ranch. He ultimately ended up at The White Stallion Ranch, formally of Hillsdale, where he wooed many by night, as a talented musician and the leader of Scotty Thomson and The Silver String Band, and led many by day, as a skilled horseman through the Hudson Valley and Berkshire Regions.
Mr. Thomson finally moved from New York City to Copake in the early 1960s to raise his family. He went on to entertain his local community for years at the Taconic Wayside Inn with his silver strings and his song. His downtime was spent honing in on his artist abilities in wood carving and drawing, but nothing came close to his love and dedication to his New York Giants.
An engineer by trade, Mr. Thomson graduated from Clark Technical institute and worked for V&O Press, formally in Hudson, the McGuire Company in Hudson, and in later years, at the Pawling Rubber Corporation, Pawling.
He was dynamic, magnetic and loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Thomson is survived by: his two daughters, Sherry Thomson of Atlanta, GA, and Heather Thomson-Schindler of New York City; his son-in-law, Jonathan Schindler; and his two grandchildren, Alexander Jack and Ella Rae Schindler, also of New York City.

Marylou Bujanow, 64, insurance agent
ALBANY—Marylou Bujanow, 64, of Niverville died Monday, October 17, 2011 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Hudson, April 7, 1947, she was the daughter of Thomas and Marie (Ciancetta) Quigley of Hudson.
Mrs. Bujanow was a licensed agent and the vice president of the Viktor
Insurance Agency from 1983 until 2008 when it was sold to the Shank and Falney Insurance Agency.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 44 years, Viktor Bujanow; her son, Steven Bujanow of Niverville; siblings, Janice Quigley Wright (Gerald) of Hudson and Timothy J. Quigley of Red Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Valatie with the Reverend Joseph Falletta officiating. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
