Gloria Christie, 81, mother, homemaker

GHENT—Gloria E. Christie, 81, a resident of Whittier Nursing Center in Ghent, entered into eternal rest Wednesday September 7, 2011.

Born in Brooklyn, September 24, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (O’Connor) Sorensen.

Mrs. Christie was a homemaker and mother to five children.

She is survived by: two daughters, Jeanne Erardy (William) of Long Beach and Karen Borovich (Robert) of Chatham; two sons, John Christie (Dennise) of Oneonta and James Christie (Deborah) of Florida; two sisters, Joan Chlebo of Germantown and Alice Lawrence of New Jersey; two brothers, George Sorensen of Florida and Edward Sorensen of Staten Island; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth O. Christie, Sr.; her son Kenneth O. Christie Jr.; brothers, Vincent, Louis and Robert Sorensen and a sister, Margaret Clinton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3, 1 p.m. from St. John the Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie, with the Reverend John Molyn officiating. Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Arrangements were with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Valatie. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 1025 Kinderhook Street, Valatie 12184 or to The Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.

Patricia Fletcher, 60, line supervisor, liked TV

HUDSON—Patricia E. Fletcher, 60, of Hudson, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born April 2, 1951 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Ann (Chellelli) Gorsline.

Ms. Fletcher worked at Kaz, Inc. for over 20 years as a line supervisor.  She enjoyed gardening and her favorite television shows.

Surviving are her companion, Thomas Porter of Hudson; her nephew, Charles (Tammy) Lockenwitz of Chatham; a great niece, Courtney; a great nephew, Devyn; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister, Judith (Gorsline) Lockenwitz.

Calling hours are 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 14 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.

Services will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Deacon Richard Washburn officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

Gloria Morse-Kennedy, 50, personal care aide

HUDSON—Gloria J. Morse-Kennedy, 50, of Ghent passed away at Columbia Memorial Hospital, September 10, 2011, surrounded by family and friends after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

She was born August 12, 1961 in Glens Falls to Gladys (Finch) Morse-Malone and the late James Harrison Morse, Sr.

She was a 1980 Chatham High School graduate. At the time of her passing, she was employed by Interim Health Care as a personal care aide.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Daniel Kennedy; daughters, Alicia (Jacob) Coons of Ghent, Samantha (Thomas) Kennedy-Mehleisen of Chatham; son, Boone Kennedy of Ghent; brothers, David “Butch” (Marsha) Morse of Whitehall, James Jr. (Nicole) Morse of Las Vegas, NM and Leonard (Diane) Morse of Chatham Center; sisters, Gladys “Marie” (John) McCotter of Argyle and Carlotta Morse of Chatham.

Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Craig Jacob Coons, Arianna Olivia Kennedy-Castillo and Andrew Xavier Mehleisen. She was their favorite playmate and trusted confidante. Their bond was extraordinary and unique.

Mrs. Morse-Kennedy was also blessed with many caring aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends, Tammy VanAlstyne and Lorie Long.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Her legacy was her dedication and devotion to her friends and family.  Every day she did whatever she could for whomever she could. Her creative vision and love of photography created many treasured memories.

Calling hours will be Saturday, September 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home in Chatham. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will host a celebration of her life later in the fall.
