Gerald Kornblau, 82, antiques dealer, Korean War vet

CLAVERACK—Gerald Kornblau of Claverack died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at his home. He was 82.

Born in New York City, August 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Sam and Sadie Kornblau.

Mr. Kornblau was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and later was a self-employed art and antiques dealer.

Survivors include: his son, Seth and (Deena) Kornblau; two daughters, Stephanie and (David) Fisher and Erika and (Gadi) Amit; one brother, Seymour and (Esther) Kornblau; and grandchildren, Adam Michael Amit, Andie Audrey Amit, Alexa and Matthew “Matty” Ford Kornblau.

He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey Joyce (Bernstein) Kornblau.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 26 with Rabbi Alan Block officiating. Burial in the family plot followed at Beth Moses Cemetery in Farmingdale. Arrangements were with McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, Greenport.

Theresa Musto, 101, teacher

COLONIE—Theresa G. Musto, 101, of Beltrone Towers in Colonie, died Tuesday, July 26,2011 at her home.

Born in New York City, December 11, 1909, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Saccone) Giorelli.

Mrs. Musto was a teacher in the New York City Public School System for many years.

She is survived by: her daughter, Marie Abaffy (Steve) of Valatie; a sister, Lucille Giorelli of Valatie; a brother, Robert Gioielli of Palm Coast, FL; two grandchildren, Susan Shah (Parag) of Guilderland and Karen Pebler of Clifton Park; four great grandchildren, Nicolas, Benjamin and Samuel Shah and Marc Pebler; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, lnc., Valatie. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Margaret Poprocki, 95, “Sutty girl,” liked Lake Taghkanic outings

HUDSON—Margaret (Sutty) Poprocki, 95, of Taghkanic, formerly of Hudson, died peacefully with her daughters by her side, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Westfield, Massachusetts, January 8, 1916, she was the daughter of Louis and Alice (Sciutto) Sutty.

She moved with her family to Hudson at the age of three. Her parents owned and operated Louis Sutty & Co., a wholesale and retail dealer of fruits and vegetables at 607 Warren Street, Hudson, known for imported fruits—especially fresh ripened bananas. Their freshly roasted peanuts were popular for many years.

She worked in the store and was proud to be known by friends and the merchants of the city as “a Sutty girl.”

Mrs. Poprocki was known for her wit and determination. Her interests included crocheting, making many warm and beautiful blankets for family and friends. She read and collected recipes and enjoyed outings with her daughters especially spending sunny days at Lake Taghkanic, which she remembered as Lake Charlotte, and would fondly reminisce about days at her family’s cottage there. In the late 1960s and early 1970s she was employed with Mam’selle, a women’s clothing store.

Mrs. Poprocki is survived by: her daughters, Linda Feroe of Taghkanic, Lisa (Matthew) Bowe of Claverack; her son, Lance (Nancy) Feroe of Gravette, AR; four grandchildren, Garth Davis of Boston, MA, Clint, Hunter and Victoria Feroe of Gravette, AR; and several nieces and a nephew.

She was predeceased by: her husbands Henry Feroe and Lewis Poprocki; brother, Lawrence Sutty; sister, Alice (Sutty) Melnick; a son, Layton Feroe and a granddaughter, Valari Feroe.

Calling hours are 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Private services will be held Saturday, July 30 followed by burial in the family plot in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Edward Kelly, 70, Navy vet, worked at bank

ALBANY—Edward W. Kelly, 70, of Orchard Drive, Kinderhook, died Wednesday, July 27,2011 at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, March 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Madeline (Waters) Kelly.

Mr. Kelly served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963 and worked at First Niagara Bank in Hudson. He was a loving father and brother who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by a son, Edward Kelly (Sonja) of Ithaca; a sister, Karen Seems of Pine Beach, NJ; his grandson, Mason T. Kelly and several loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Gail (Cort) Kelly; a son, Brian Kelly and a brother, Robert T. Kelly.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Valatie, with the Reverend Joseph Falletta officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Community Hospice Of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.
