Nancy Potts, 80, loved animals and laughing

VALATIE—Nancy M. Potts, 80, died peacefully Wednesday, July 13 at Barnwell Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Born in Albany, November 23, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frank M. Montague and Bess E. Stanton.

She was the wife of the late Mervin E. Potts and partner to the late Richard Colegrove.

Ms. Potts lived the majority of her life in the Capital Region. She lived for the longest time in Schodack Landing and spent several of her last years in Shippensburg, PA.

She worked in the banking industry and was also a devoted housewife and mother. Active in 4H, her great love was animals. Not only did she breed, train and show American boxers and Standard poodles, she also raised livestock of all different kinds including geese, ducks and Arabian horses. Her latest passion was tropical birds and her voice lives on in her adored African grey parrot Mitch. Ms. Potts loved to laugh and enjoyed puzzles and board games of all kinds.

Ms. Potts is survived by her daughter Amy (David) Mitchison of Valatie; her son, Joel (Mindy) Potts of Niverville; her grandchildren, Alex, Shawnah, Hunter and Dell; her brother, Stanton Montague; as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Abiding by her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial gathering will be held a month from her passing. Family and friends will be notified about the details of the service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.

Jon Flemming, 65, graphic designer

ALBANY—Jon Richard Flemming passed away after a long illness, Wednesday July 13 at St Peter’s Hospital.

Born December 30, 1945 in Newburgh, he was the son the late Ralph Buckley Flemming and Elizabeth (Lester) Flemming.

Mr. Flemming recently retired from New York State United Teachers after 35 years of dedicated service in design, computer graphics and photography.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Anne and his children, John Thomas Buckley, Peter Joseph William, Laura Anne and Michael Patrick Richard.

He was predeceased by his brother Ralph Thomas Flemming.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday, July 17, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 10 a.m. from the St James R.C. Church in Chatham. Interment will be in the North Chatham Cemetery.
