Michael Mallozzi, 29, restored old cars, helped others
ANCRAM—Michael Wilmarth Mallozzi, 29, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 in a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Sharon, CT, June 25, 1982 the son of Theodore and Lou Ann (Wilmarth) Mallozzi of Pine Plains.
Mr. Mallozzi attended Pine Plains Schools and Dutchess County BOCES, earning his GED.
He trained as a diesel technician at WyoTech in Blairsville, PA. He was first employed by Eagle Diesel in Kingston, and was employed at the time of his death by Stanford Machine Manufacturing Co. as a CNC operator.
In his spare time, he enjoyed rehabilitating older vehicles.
Survivors include his parents, his brother Gabriel and a sister, Angelina.
He will always be remembered for his willingness to help others, for the many friends he made, and for his appreciation of the outdoors.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service was held Sunday, July 10 at the United Methodist Church in Pine Plains.
A celebration of his life followed at the Pine Plains Lion’s Club Pavilion, 101 Stissing Avenue, Pine Plains.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Joan Huls, 68, administrative assistant, crossworder
STEPHENTOWN—Joan Linda Huls, 68, passed away July 5, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Pittsfield, MA, the beloved daughter of William F. and Floy M. Hall. She was raised in Stephentown and attended New Lebanon Central School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated in 1959 at the age of 16.
Following graduation from Berkshire Business College in 1960, Mrs. Huls was employed as a legal secretary in Pittsfield and then in the publicity department at Berkshire Downs in Hancock, MA, where she also served as the track’s photographer’s model. In 1970, after eight years of military travel with her husband, Mrs. Huls went to work at the Darrow School in New Lebanon, retiring in 2005 after 35 years as the administrative assistant to the head of school.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart husband, Harry Arthur Huls, with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this December.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Trevor (Debbie) Huls of Canandaigua, Tina Huls (Craig Alldredge) of Pittsford and Tanya Huls (John Nestler) of Stephentown. Mrs. Huls cherished her grandchildren Evan, Ashley, Cassidy and Tanner. She was their “Geema!” She is also survived by her loving sister and best friend Mary Roberts of Amsterdam and her daughters Tracy and Lorri; along with several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving niece Tara.
Mrs. Huls and her sister loved to spend an entire day shopping and buying “absolutely nothing.”
She loved word-association games and was an avid “crossworder,” who usually finished two or three puzzles each day. She also loved card games, especially pinochle night with Shirley, Flo and Donna for many years.
She loved her grandchildren dearly and always made time to travel to the Rochester/Canandaigua area for soccer, lacrosse, baseball and softball; as well as, Evan’s soccer and basketball games in New Lebanon.
Burial will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery in the fall following private family services.
The family thanks the doctors and nursing staff in the ICU at St. Mary’s Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. H, Felicia and Kim, who cared for her with compassion and always treated her with dignity.

AnnaMae Bedford, 88, devoted to family, bowler
PETERSBURGH—AnnaMae A. Robinson Bedford, 88, of Route 22 died July 8 at her home under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness.
Born in Long Island City, July 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Martha Andre Robinson. She was educated in New York schools.
She was the loving and devoted wife of Alfred H. Bedford, whom she married in Staten Island, December 27, 1941. She and her husband, resided in the Berlin/Petersburgh area for more than 40 years after moving from Staten Island.
Mrs. Bedford was a homemaker and deeply devoted to her family. Her interests included bowling, puzzles, caring for and spoiling her grandchildren.
Survivors include: her husband of 69 years, Alfred; 13 children, Alfred (Dottie), Diana (Larry) Richards, Richard (Alma), John (Kathy Stewart), Ted (Shelly), Charles (Sue), Denise (Rusty) Anderson, George (Leah), Edward, Steven, Elizabeth (the late Steve) Lawton, William (Chris Beaudoin), Kathryn (Don) Goodermote; daughter-in-law, Claudia Bedford; 37 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her parents; two children, Lillian and Robert; four grandchildren, Stacey Anderson, John, Jolene and Richard Bedford; along with four brothers, Wesley, Clarence, Charles and Robert Robinson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11 at 1 p.m. in the Grafton Baptist Church, Owens Road, where the Rev. Jason White, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Eagle Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the church, Monday starting at 11 a.m.
