Charles Magaraci, 85, singer, steakhouse manager

PITTSFIELD, MA—Charles Magaraci of Chatham passed away June 16, 2011 at the Berkshire Medical Center.

He was born November 26, 1925 in Flushing, the son of the late John and Domenica Caputo Magaraci.

In his early years, Mr. Magaraci sang with the Saint Louis Opera and the Three Mimic Men, a three-person acapella group that traveled the country and appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. He later was a manager of Peter Luger’s Steak House in Long Island.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Tommy) Carlucci of Chatham, Dawn Hegadorn of East Sandwich, MA; his son, Dean (Karen) Magaraci of Norwood, NJ; grandchildren, Lindsay and Courtney Hegadorn, Joshua and Matthew Carlucci and Michael, James and Olivia Magaraci.

He was predeceased by his grandson Nicholas Magaraci.

At Mr. Magaraci’s request there will be a private entombment at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in New Jersey. A memorial service for his Chatham friends will be announced in the future.

Gladys Foiadelli, 89, liked horses and bulldogs

AUSTERLITZ—Gladys Foiadelli passed away June 15 at her home.

She was born October 28 1921, in Hudson, to the late Carl and Ida Hansberg Radewitz..

Mrs. Foiadelli graduated from school in Philmont. She enjoyed horses, English bulldogs and food. She always looked forward to going to Gloucester with her grandsons Joseph and Mike for their annual lobster feast.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Hamm; nephew, Ron Radewitz; grandson, Mike (Julie) Foiadelli; great grandchildren, Joseph and Anna; great nephews, Matt and Brian Radewitz.

She was predeceased by her husband, John; son, Rusty and grandson, Joseph.

A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday morning, June 18 at the Saint James Church, Chatham.

Robert Ellis, 85, WWII vet, teacher

GHENT—Robert L. Ellis, 85, a resident of Whittier Rehabilitation Center, passed away there, June 2, 2011.

Born in Walden, November 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Lot and Helen (Wells) Ellis.

Mr. Ellis was a World War II veteran, who served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a teacher in the Ilion Central School District and a former member and superintendent of Sunday schools at the Ilion Methodist Church; a member of the Ilion Chamber of Commerce and the Ilion Masonic Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil (Meredith) Ellis of East Greenbush; a daughter, Martha Kole of Valatie; a son, Michael L. Ellis of Kerhonkson; four grandchildren, Kati Kole, Jenna Weber, Savannah Mayhew and Jacquelyn Ellis; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Northeastern New York, 85 Watervliet Avenue, Albany 12206-2083.
