Herbert Titus, 82, loved to bowl and fish

VALATIE—Herbert H. Titus, 82, of Valatie, died Sunday, May 29, 2010 at his home.

Born March 6, 1929 in Dover Plains, he was the son of the late Oliver and Mary (Burhans) Titus.

 

Mr. Titus loved bowling and fishing.

He was the beloved father and father-in-law of Christopher (Sonja Jones) Titus of Hudson. He is also survived by his companions Georgia and Susan DiBlasi of Hudson.

He will be greatly missed by his Coarc friends and family.

A calling hour will be held Friday, June 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. in the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Valatie.

Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Coarc, P.O. Box 2, Mellenville 12544.

Martin McRae, 59, served in the Army, groundskeeper

HUDSON—Martin D. McRae, 59, of Greenport, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

He was born and raised in the Bronx and graduated from high school there.

After serving briefly in the US Army, he was employed at Taconic DDSO in Wassaic and then worked as a groundskeeper at the Empire State Plaza until retiring.

Surviving are his cousin, Shirley Oliver, and several other loving family members, friends, and Godchildren.

A calling hour will begin at noon Friday, June 3 at the Bates & Anderson Funeral Home.  Services will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery. A repast will be held at 25 Fairview Avenue, Hudson, following the burial. Send condolences at www.batesanderson.com

Viirginia Marchionne, 76, owned Moxie’s Restaurant

HUDSON—Virginia “Ginger” Marchionne, 76, of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 14, 1935 in Stuyvesant Falls to the late Martha and Clarence Schools.

Mrs. Marchionne owned and operated Moxie’s Italian Restaurant in Hudson with her late husband, Dominick “Moxie” Marchionne.

Surviving are her son, Mark Marchionne and his fiance, Lisa Kenneally; her granddaughter, Stephanie Marchionne; her grandson, Anthony Marchionne; five siblings, Jeanette Shannon and her husband Roy, William Schools, Marion Thorpe, Ruth Novak and Carl “Smokey” Schools and his wife Alice; her sister-in-law, Anne Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three siblings, Henry Schools, Alice Schools Heintz and Robert Schools.

Mrs. Marchionne loved large family gatherings, cooking for her family, as well as her customers, gambling, and reading a good book.

Visiting hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3 at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson.

Interment will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
