Eleanor Plass, 81, talented crafter, gardener
CASTLETON-ON-HUDSON—Eleanor Cavanagh Plass died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Resurrection Nursing Home.
Born January 30, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Edna (Myers) Cavanagh.
She graduated from Germantown High School. Mrs. Plass had many talents including sewing, crocheting, knitting, crafts and gardening, which she lovingly did for her family.
She was a charter member of the Stockport Fire Company Auxiliary and former member of the Stockport Home Bureau.
Mrs. Plass is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Plass of Columbiaville; her sister, Betty Ahrens of Germantown; two sons, Ronald and Randall Plass; two daughters, Sharon (Don) Hover and Sandra (Richard) Novak; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Margaret Plass; and her brother-in-law, Ralph Lasher.
She was predeceased by her son, Robert Plass; two sisters, Rose Lasher and Edna Mackemull; and her brother, Robert Cavanagh.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 27 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Stuyvesant Falls.
The family thanks to the staff of Resurrection Nursing Home for their loving care and also to the Rensselaer Hospice.

Heidi Mesick, 33, leaves parents, siblings
HUDSON—Heidi L. Mesick, 33, of Purling, Greene County, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 in Hudson.
Born in Rhinebeck February 11, 1978, she was the daughter of William and Beverly (Cernak) Mesick of Purling.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her brother, Billy Mesick of Purling; her sister, Kaitlyn Mesick of Salt Lake City, Utah; her paternal grandfather, William Mesick of Pittsfield, MA: her maternal grandmother, Olga Cernak of Greenport; three aunts, Ann Mahowald of MN, Michelle Grossman of Pittsfield, MA, and Kimberly Carpenter of Staten Island; her uncle, John (Valerie) Cernak of Freehold; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Ruth Mesick and her maternal grandfather, John Cernak.
There will be no calling hours.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Evelyn Meyer, 88, homemaker, bright smile
KINDERHOOK—Evelyn A. Meyer, 88, of Chatham Street, Kinderhook, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Stuyvesant Falls, December 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Julia (Czpena) Ignasher.
Mrs. Meyer was a housekeeper and a homemaker for many years. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie. She also enjoyed
reading and baking and her smile brightened up the room.
She is survived by: one son, Donald Meyer of Kinderhook; a brother, Anthony Ignasher of Florida; a grandson, Marc Meyer of Kinderhook; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Gary Meyer and three sisters, Mary Gates, Josephine Burns and Rose Ingham.
Graveside services were conducted by Deacon Peter Trawinski, April 27 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls.
Arrangements were with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Valatie.
