Theresa Eisner, homemaker, church member
LIVINGSTON—Theresa K. Eisner of Greenport, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home.
Born in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Koglman.
She was a lifelong resident of the Hudson area. She was a graduate of Hudson High School, a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and a member of the Golden Agers and Whalers.
Mrs. Eisner was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are her son, Gerald H. Eisner of Hudson; her grandson, Gerald Robert Eisner, and his wife, Anita, of Fort Myers, Florida; a great-grandson, Michael Eisner; her brother, William Koglman of Greenport and several nieces.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Andrew Battistello, 90, ironworker, decorated WWII vet
ALBANY—Andrew Battistello, 90, of Claverack, died at hospice at the VA Hospital, Monday, April 18, 2011 after a short illness.
He was born in Salcedo, Vicenza, Italy, August 12, 1920, the son of Marco and Lucia Dal Ponte Battistello.
Before retiring in 1982, he had been an ironworker member of Local #12, Albany for 33 years.
Surviving are: two daughters, Lucia Battistello Boyce of Rhinebeck and Linda Battistello Erickson of Hudson; four grandchildren, Peter and Robby Nack and Asia and Coulter Myers; two sisters, Lucia Grater of Claverack and Agnes Battistello of Hudson.
He was predeceased by his brother and three sisters, Anthony Battistello, Gina Zanetti, Maria Sartori and Ortensia Poletto Fabiano.
He was a veteran of World War II, who served from 1940 to 1945 in the Central and South Pacific as a member of 3rd Battalion 106 Infantry 27th Division. He fought against the Japanese for the islands of Eniwetok, Saipan and Okinawa. He was discharged in October 1945 as a sergeant, and received the Combat Infantry badge along with three combat battle stars as well as other citations.
He was a life member of Post 1314 V.F.W., Hudson, and the Elks Post 787 Hudson, and the 27th Division Association, Syracuse.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 3 p.m. at the Bates and Anderson Funeral Home. Calling hours will be noon to 3 p.m. that day. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.
Martha Weigelt, 82, homemaker, seamstress
CLAVERACK—Martha E Weigelt, 82, a lifelong resident of Swiss Farms Road in Claverack, died Thursday April 14 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Claverack May 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Mary (Stark) Hess.
Mrs. Weigelt was a homemaker who was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William A. Weigelt and younger brother Kenneth J. Hess. Survivors include: her older brother, John Hess; sons, Dennis, Clifford and William J. Weigelt; daughters, Nancy Donaldson, Marily Bell, Beverly Baillargeon and Heidi Gerlach; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A member of the Philmont Reformed Church, she was an active seamstress, organizing the annual church bazaar. She enjoyed animals, gardening and touring the outdoors on her golf cart.
There are no calling hours; cremation was private at Albany Rural Crematory under the direction of McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or cards, send donations to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
Elizabeth Sheldon, 91, seamstress, devoted wife
HUDSON—Elizabeth “Lees” A. Sheldon, 91, of Greenport, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born January 2, 1920 in Greendale, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Maria (Ruotolo) Pizza.
She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Sheldon enjoyed spending time with her family and also liked to golf and bowl. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson and a seamstress at Sylvia’s Dress Shop in Hudson for many years.
She was the beloved wife of 63 years of W. Gerald Sheldon of Greenport; devoted mother of W. Gerald Sheldon, Jr. (Roxanne) of East Greenbush and Kathleen Kulyniak (Michael) of Greenport; loving sister of Julia Ruotolo and Mary Loomis; beloved grandmother of Kyle Sheldon, Daryn Sheldon, and Travis Sheldon, and special great-grandmother of Anastasia, Victoria, Quinn and Declan Sheldon. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six brothers, Gerald, Rocco, Anthony, John, Joseph and Harry Pizza, and two sisters, Pat Tanzillo and Margaret Stafkey.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
Services will be held at Friday, April 22, 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Winston Bath officiating.
Interment will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.
