Clifton “Kip” Brandow, 80, marine, 60-year church member

PHILMONT—Clifton “Kip” H. Brandow, 80, of Philmont, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.

Born December 21, 1930 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Clifford and Marjorie (Kisselburgh) Brandow.

Mr. Brandow was predeceased by his wife, Joan M. (Ham) Brandow, in 2004 and a sister, Elaine.

He is survived by his son, Curtis (Marcia) Brandow of Virginia Beach; his daughter, Valinda Brandow, and her partner, Susan Moran, of Hudson; a granddaughter, Amy (Kenny) Glascock of Madison, VA; and a grandson, Ryan Brandow of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Brandow served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon his return, he worked for Marsh’s Department Store until 1965, when he went into business for himself. He semi-retired in 1985 and then worked for various other floor covering stores.

Mr. Brandow was a 60-year member of the Philmont Methodist Church, a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #98, and a member of the Mellenville Fire Company.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 9 at the Bates & Anderson—Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, with funeral services at 4 p.m.

Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Philmont Methodist Church, Attention Pat Hamm, or to Community Hospice of Columbia Greene.

The family thanks hospice and the staff of the west wing of Pine Haven Home for their excellent care.
