ALBANY—Richard Byron McPhee, 76, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Albany Medical Center.

Born in New Rochelle, November 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Harold and Laura McPhee.

Mr. McPhee graduated with a BA from Oberlin College and moved to Hillsdale in 1981. He was the author of two books for young readers, “Rounds with a Country Vet” and “Tom and Bear.” He previously served on the Board of Directors of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, the Hillsdale Library Board, and he was a member of the Board of Directors of Dollars for Scholars. Most recently, he was a volunteer at Volunteers in Medicine in Great Barrington, Mass.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald McPhee.

Mr. McPhee leaves behind many close friends.
