William Rohrer, 85, WWII vet, truck driver

ALBANY—William J. Rohrer, 85, of Route 203, Valatie, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany.

Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, April 17, 1925, he was the son of the late William H. and Hazel (Santa) Rohrer.

Mr. Rohrer was a World War II veteran. He served with the US Army in both the European and Pacific theaters of operations. He was a truck driver for Zappala Block in Albany until his retirement. He was an honorary member of the Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post # 9593.

Mr. Rohrer is survived by his wife of 65 years Josephine (Bradtke) Rohrer of Valatie; three children, William H. Rohrer, Sr. (Suzanne) of Valatie,

Richard R. Rohrer (Sandra) of Valatie and Sharon A. Thorsey (Robert) of Niverville; six grandchildren, Richard Rohrer of Saratoga Springs, Glenn Weaver (Gillian) of Kinderhook, Graig Weaver (Caitlin) of East Greenbush, Michelle Weaver (Jeff) of Valatie, William H. Rohrer ,Jr. (Danielle) of Witherbee and Bryan Rohrer of Valatie; five great grandchildren, Taylor Weaver, Madison Zenzen, Dylan Weaver, William H. Rohrer III and Alivia Rohrer.

Funeral services were December 21 at St. John the Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie. Interment was in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
