ALBANY—John E. Pechtel, 60, of Route 9H, Kinderhook, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Valatie, he was the son of the late Marvin George and Blanche Ellen (Kinnicutt) Pechtel.
Mr. Pechtel served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a chemical operator with both General Electric in Waterford and Sterling Drug in Rensselaer.
He is survived by four siblings, Bruce Pechtel, Sr. of Kinderhook, James Pechtel (Barbara) of Elloree, SC, Robert Pechtel (Judith) of Kinderhook, and Karen Hotchkiss of North Greenbush; three nephews, Marvin S. Pechtel, Jr., Christopher Pechtel and Andrew Pechtel; and three nieces, Stacey Hunt, Carolyn Morris (Kevin) and Shelley Dingman.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the Valatie Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 242, Valatie 12184. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Valatie.
