GHENT—Patricia A. Campbell of Chatham passed away December 1, 2010, at the Whittier Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Campbell was born April 29, 1938 in Ellenville. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Huppman Distle.

She grew up and attended schools in Ellenville and after graduation joined the U.S. Air Force. Upon her discharge in 1957, she returned to Ellenville and went to work in a bank. She moved to Columbia County in 1959 and began to raise her family. She went to work as the deli manager at the A&P in Hudson until an injury prevented her from continuing that type of work. Being at home, she became a talented and well-known seamstress to many.

Mrs. Campbell enjoyed camping, baking and traveling. She visited Sweden, Denmark and Norway. She was a real people person, enjoying family and friends. She had a terrific memory for facts, dates and names.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth, they were married for exactly 36 years, she passed on their anniversary; sons, Joseph (Pamela) Benziger, James (Debra) Benziger and Edward (Robin) Benziger; stepson, Stephen Campbell and Don (Sharon) Campbell; grandchildren, Corey, Timothy, Joseph, Shane and Grace Benziger; step grandchildren, Burton and Brent Kendall.

Family will receive friends Sunday, December 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 6 at the Saint James Church, 10 a.m.
