SHARON, Conn.—Mary L. Podris, 92, of Ancramdale passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Sharon Hospital.
She was born March 3, 1918 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Morris and Bertha (Wolf) Lubow.
On November 10, 1940, in Brooklyn, she married Robert B. Podris. He predeceased her in 1982.
She and her husband were co-owners and operators of the Crest Lane Dairy Farm in Ancramdale. Later, she was the bookkeeper for the Harlem Valley Times newspaper in Amenia.
Mrs. Podris was an avid bridge and poker player. She was also an instructor of canasta at the Community Center in Pine Plains. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Taylor and her husband Bob of Ancramdale; a son, Bob Podris and his wife Betty of Ancramdale; five grandchildren, Jason Podris and his wife Catherine of Galway, Ireland; David Podris of Saratoga; Jeremy Taylor of Wilton; Josh Taylor and his wife Sofia of Alexandria, VA; Scott Taylor and his wife Helen Lau of New York City; four great grandchildren, Ella Mary Podris, Hannah Podris, Eli Taylor, Evie Taylor; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Irving Lubow and his wife Naomi. There are no calling hours.
Graveside services were November 22 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains.
