Barbara Knights, 81, telephone operator, teddy bear collector


KINDERHOOK—Barbara Ruth Knights, 81, of Rothermel Avenue, Kinderhook, died Saturday November 20, 2010 at her home.

Born in West Ghent, November 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George and Martha (Robertson) Hallenbeck.

Mrs. Knights was a telephone operator at Berkshire Telephone in Kinderhook and was a former member of the Clapp-Novak American Legion Post # 1470 Ladies Auxiliary in Kinderhook. She was an avid collector of teddy bears and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Chari Cole of California; a son, Barry Knights of Kinderhook; a brother, Bruce Hallenbeck, Sr. of Kinderhook; three grandchildren, Melanie Malys, Jessica and Rebecca Cole; one great grandson, Caleb Malys; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 11 a.m. from the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc. Route 9, Valatie. The Reverend Stark Jones will conduct the service. Interment will be in Kinderhook Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in Mrs. Knight’s memory may be made to the Kinderhook Fire Company, P.O.
