HUDSON—William L. “Lassie” Nixon, 63, of Hudson, passed away peacefully Friday, November 19, 2010 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born December 27, 1946 in Hudson, he was the beloved son of Doris Ban of Hudson and the late David G. Nixon. He was also predeceased by his step-father, James L. Ban, Sr.
Mr. Nixon graduated from Hudson High School in 1964. He was employed by the New York State Retirement System and retired after 33 years of service.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was an active member and past president of the Federation of Polish Sportsmen, where he spent many happy times with his close friends. He was also a member of the Hudson Elks Club.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his children, Timothy (Cyndi) Nixon of Hollowville, Amy Nixon of Colorado, Heather (Chris) Gerard of Albany, and Ryan Nixon of Slingerlands; two grandchildren, Gavin and Jade Gerard; his brother, James L. Ban, Jr. of Hudson; two sisters, Donna (David) June of Hudson and Mary Ann (Jack) Piester of Endicott; many nieces and nephews, and to all who knew him, his beloved little “Molly.”
Calling hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 21 at the Bates & Anderson—Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 22 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Federation of Polish Sportsmen Inc.
