TROY—Jacob H. “Jake” Bink, Jr., 62 of Locust Avenue died the afternoon of Monday, November 8 at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Cherry Plain, December 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Doris Teal Bink.
He was the loving husband of the former June Snyder, whom he married on August 12, 1967 in the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Berlin.
Mr. Bink attended Berlin High School and was drafted into the US Army in June 1967. He served in both the US and Germany. He was honorably discharged in July 1969. He moved to Troy 35 years ago from Cherry Plain. He was employed by Madden’s Service Center in Stephentown for a few years.
Mr. Bink worked for the Troy Housing Authority for more than 26 years and retired in 2002. In retirement, he worked in maintenance at the Troy Country Club. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, NASCAR and socializing with friends and relatives. Mr. Bink often said: “There is a right way to do something, a wrong way and Jake’s way.”
Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, June Snyder Bink; children, Crystal L. (Richard) Sehl, John L. Bink all of Troy, Doris J. Kelly of Gloversville; grandchildren, Brandy J. (Nicholas) Scifo, Ronald Kelly Jr., Eva (Scott) Sanford, Angela Bink, Richard Sehl Jr., Karley Sehl, Alyssa Sehl, Jacob “Buddy” Sehl; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Scifo Jr., Donavon Sanford; siblings, Richard Bink of Averill Park, Kenneth Bink of Florida, Philip Bing of East Nassau, Joyce (Fred) Moses of Berlin, Elvia (David) Corlew of Stephentown, Lillian (Lee) Grandjean of Ballston Spa, Donna Bink of Stuyvesant, Lorraine (George) Heath of Valatie, Melissa Bink of Warwick, RI; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Bink.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 12, 11 a.m. in the Berlin Community Cemetery, Route 22, Berlin. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer 12144. Arrangements are with the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown.
