GHENT—George A. Nobles, Jr., of Ghent, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at home. He was 77 years old.
He was born August 24, 1933 in Albany to the late Pauline and George Nobles of Colonie.
Mr. Nobles entered the US Air Force and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
After his military the service, he was employed by the US Postal Service, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Nobles was the postmaster in the Loudonville Post Office.
He was a member of the Ghent American Legion, an avid fisherman. He loved feeding and watching birds.
Mr. Nobles is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Richard) Leavitt of Hudson and Sue Adriance of N.C.; a grandson, Brandon Leavitt of Hudson; two grand-daughters, Melissa of N.C. and Samantha Adriance of Saratoga; his sister, Mildred Donnelly of Clifton Park; and his brother, David Nobles of Fla. He also leaves behind his beloved pug, Coco.
He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Hoag.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 3 at the Bates & Anderson–Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the West Ghent Cemetery. Pall bearers will include Richard Leavitt, Scott Leavitt, Robert Knott, Teddy Funk and Tom Hoag. Brandon Leavitt will serve as junior pall bearer.
