Sophie Grabowski, 90, worked at V&O Press for 45 years

HUDSON—Sophie K. Grabowski, 90, of Greenport, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 at Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born March 29, 1920 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Amelia (Lizak) Super.

 

She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Arthur Grabowski; two brothers, Anthony and Thomas Super; and two sisters, Mary Canape Pulver and Helen Super Canape.

Mrs. Grabowski graduated from Hudson High School and was employed for 45 years at the former V&O Press, Inc. in the accounting department. She also worked with her late husband, Arthur, on their farm on Middle Road in Greenport.

Mrs. Grabowski lived her entire life in the Hudson area. She was a charter member of the Becraft Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a member of St. Mary’s Church, a former member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Ladies Sodality, and the Greenport Senior Citizens.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 28 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Bates & Anderson–Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson.
