GHENT—Mary Theresa Keeler, 84, of Claverack, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010, at Whittier Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 23, 1926 in Hudson, the daughter of Edmund C. and Alice O’Connell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Peggy deGuzman; her husband of 56 years, Paul J. Keeler Sr.; her son, J. Conway Keeler; and daughter-in-law, Susie Keeler.
She is survived by sons, Paul J. Jr. “P.J.” and his wife Kathy Keeler of Claverack, Ned and his wife Sheila Keeler of Huron, South Dakota, Robert and his wife Denise Keeler of Dayton, Ohio, Brian and his wife Martha Keeler of Claverack; daughter-in-law, Jane Keeler of Fishers, Indiana; 12
grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Keeler was a lifelong member of St, Mary’s Catholic Church in Hudson. She and her husband, along with Francis and Betty Keeler, owned and operated Keeler’s Craigside Dairy. In 1971, Mr. and Mrs. Keeler, along with brother-in-law Robert deGuzman, were co-founders of the Kd Hallmark store in Fairview Plaza, Greenport. Mr. and Mrs. Keeler later became sole
owners of the business, which eventually included four Hallmark stores and two Kd Office Works stores. Mrs. Keeler was also a past member of the Fortnightly Club. She was a wonderful, devoted wife and mother, and will be sorely missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hudson, with the Reverend Winston Bath officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond &Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson, Tuesday evening, October 12 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
